What are your favorite stones or materials? I’ve never seen a general topic on this (which is weird) so I thought I would start one.
I recently have discovered the majesty of white jade. I picked up a bracelet from my local metaphysical shop and I don’t want to take it off my arm. It’s so calming and gentle, yet emits an impressive kind of power. It has a bunch of benefits. I’ll put a link here: Properties of White Jade
Another thing I’m keen on trying is associated with one of my deities; Rudrakasha beads. They’re sacred seeds. Finally ordered one yesterday! I wonder if anyone here has any experience with these?
So share with us your favorite stones, shells, plant materials, animal materials, natural tools, you get the idea! It’ll be fun reading and it might give some of our newbies here ideas on what to start with.
Cheers.

The stone closest related to Shamanism in the Americas is probably Turquoise.
I have some authentic pieces from my mother, who traveled to the Southwest often
and knew what to look for. I wear those mostly. They’re silver settings. I have a small
brass Singing Bowl. Hope to get a bigger one I do love brass and bronze and copper.

Turquoise is such a beautiful stone, I love blue-green stones. Love singing bowls too, I’m waiting to get a nice one - likely in brass or the 7-metal blends that seem to be popular in Nepal and India.
Bronze has a nice earthy quality that I also like. Brass I like a lot too, I see it as a good substitute for gold. Copper is pretty, but for strange reasons I can’t work with it!

I’m new so I’m feeling things out. Right now I’m really enjoying learning Oracle and tarot cards, and getting a feel for my many crystals and what works when. I’m mostly doing this by intuition and which crystal I’m drawn to for a ritual. Right now I’m doing a nightly candle ritual and I drew crystals called to me based on my intention for the ritual. A week later, they still feel right and very powerful. I had a succulent that I had to deadhead some flowers from, which I saved for no particular reason. A few days later I began this ritual and it felt right to add them. Last week I collected about a gallon of rainwater I plan to charge as moon water. I’m Very drawn to sigils, especially if they get burnt after or if they are drawn on the skin. Wow lol I guess I didn’t realize how much I’m dabbling in but it all feels so intuitive. I must have like 15 books on different subjects (thank goodness for eBay). The only thing I really study is the meaning of each tarot card when i pull it in a spread and the moon meanings and phases and when you should do what. My favorite tool i guess is my intuition, bc none of this is written in stone, it’s all suggestive and what feels right. And that feels right to me.

Love Turquoise! It’s energy is so calm yet so protective at the same time & helps me bring truths to light & stay balanced. It’s one of the main stones for my sign as well (Sagittarius). Other great crystals & stones are Golden Healer Quartz which is great crystal to clear chakra imbalances & realign them, amplify energy, helps assist in deep emotional release, mental clarity & physical support, Prehnite is great for increasing intuition, helps connect to higher consciousness & heals emotional wounds, Lapis Lazuli is a great stone for enlightenment, intuition, opening the third eye chakra, self-awareness, helps promote clear & honest communication, Black Tourmaline is great for protection for the aura that provides an energetic shield helping to remove & keep negative energies away, Black Obsidian is volcanic glass which is also highly protective, helps with emotional blockages & helps us face hidden truths, Citrine is a great crystal for attracting abundance & success, boost confidence, self-esteem, promotes positivity, increases imagination, Pyrite also known as fools gold is great for increasing motivation, focus, a great manifestation crystal for attracting wealth & abundance.

I love minerals! It’s funny that many minerals i like are from the cubic system, such as pyrite, garnet and fluorite
I also resonate with lead but i would only use it metaphorically bc it’s poisonous XD
I’ve worked with it my whole life. (Soldering irons) it’s not that bad. It’s not like Mercury…
Just gotta use some common sense protocols. Like not eat while you do. I test OK for Pb.

I will remember to keep safe when handling heavy metals

I know I’m a little late on this one but hopefully this doesn’t count as too late.
I find I’m very into crystals right now. The ones I am using on a regular basis are:
Black Onyx — grounding, protection
Selenite — cleansing, peace
Black Tourmaline — powerful protection, banishing negativity
Green Fluorite — clarity, focus, purification (ADHD)
Dark Rose Garnet — passion, courage, protection
Amethyst — intuition, calm, protection
Tiger’s Eye — strength, courage, grounding
Clear Quartz — amplification, cleansing, clarity, protection
Let me know if these correspondences are the same as you understand them.

I don’t mind if people want to continue adding to this topic. That’s what I’d hoped actually! So cool to see everyone’s favorites!
I did end up getting a couple rudraksha seeds. Very interesting little talismans they are! Kind of makes me want to work with more seeds.
Selenite is also a great charger for other stones and magick tools. When there’s no moonlight for cleansing and charging, a selenite bowl or plate can do the same job!
Your correspondences look good!
By far my favorite protective and grounding stone is Karelian Shungite. From my experience with it I find it’s incredibly strong. I prefer it over black tourmaline.

I’m typically using the little white Quartz chips, selenite chips, and black Onyx in a dish to cleanse and recharge the other crystals that I wear to work every day. I basically wear crystals like a little suit of armor.

lol, that’s a natural habit I think most practitioners develop. It’s how you know how far you are in the conversion.
I’ve always got at least one talisman and two bracelets on. On rare occasion I will feel the need to be fully “suited up” and let me tell you… it’s a lot of stuff. LOL

I double up on the green fluorite everyday (bracelet and pendant) because my brain needs to be seriously corralled. Also, many, many heavy energies come through my office door everyday and I need to keep that force field strong so crap just bounces off.

How do you use it? Do you wear it or keep it in a particular spot?

I remember using onyx when I was starting to practice occult magik. It was mostly to give myself clarity to see in the spiritual realm which I personally feel worked.

My cleanse and recharge station. I’ve added black tourmaline to the mix.

Sorry it’s taken me a bit to get back to this!
I use shungite for a bunch of different things. It can also neutralize EMFs from electronics. I have a small plate of shungite glued to the back of my cell and tablet case, as well as a shungite stand on my desk.
If you had a set of shungite obelisks you could set them up as an energetic shield around your space. I’ve also put smaller pieces with other small stones under my pillow to help me sleep.
It can also be worn! I have a large crescent shungite pendant that I wear as part of my “suited up” form lol. When worn, I find it gives a very centered and calming sense of protection.
You can also get it in large plates to ground things on or massage rods to roll over your body as a therapeutic.
As you can see, there’s a lot of uses! lol
The only thing is you don’t want to get it wet. It will start to erode if it’s exposed to water.
If you do get it make sure you get it from a reputable store that spells out that it’s from the Karelian Republic. There’s a bunch of fake sellers sadly. Cheers.
