Hi! I just started, and don’t have any crystals yet… do you have any recommendations? I really like moss agate but don’t know where to find any… help is extremely wanted

I remember using moonstone for lunar witchcraft and when I first started practicing occult witchcraft, it was an onyx Hekate necklace

I don’t have much to recommend, but I second the moonstone, for making moon water.
My Shamanism favors turquoise. Right now, those are the two big ones for me.

Thank you! I just realized I ddnt introduce myself! My name is ace (they/them) and I have been really into witchy stuff since I was little, I even have a pentacle in my room…unfortunately my parents think its the EVVIILLLLLLL one sooo…that was a lengthy explanation… Anywayyyssss I’m really excited to finally have the resources to get into witchcraft!

My advice for getting started:
Do a search for a local metaphysical shop or similar shop that sells crystals. Go inside and absorb yourself in interacting with the stones there - paying close attention to how each stone feels in your hand, and what your intuition is telling you as you handle them.
Then take home only the ones you feel compelled to the most.
Then do your research on what you bought. There’s tons of helpful sites and there’s also the Crystal Bible book series by Judy Hall
This is the most sure-fire way to know which stones are best for you or not! Everyone’s different and requires the help of different “mineral-allies”. My favorite stones might be incompatible with you and your needs - and likewise.
Your intuition, mind and body are your fastest teachers. Stone energies simply don’t communicate well through a screen or on paper. If you possibly can, do your work in person - at least to start!

This is actually really interesting advice. It’d probably be a trip because of the area I’m in, but I heard whispers of a witchy kinda store about half an hour away…

There are lots of online stores that sell magical supplies. I love dragonmoon.ca. They’re based out of Alberta, Canada and they ship worldwide.
My personal rule of thumb when it comes to engaging with non-human spirits (be they plants, trees, animals, stones) is to never assume anything, and always ask permission. They don’t exist for us to “use” them, and they have autonomy and life of their own. It’s about learning to listen.
That being said, if you feel drawn to a certain stone, tree, or the like I would pay attention to that. It might mean something.

I know I talk a lot btw, my dad says I’m a social butterfly, but I mush prefer social moth, especially since months are just goth butterflys(you cant change my mind) and actually tend to be more social regardless, sorry that was random, but I always love meeting more they/them peeps! ! I totally agree with Wren’s suggestion. Go to a shop and feel the stone. I use an amethyst for my sunwater and a moonstone for my moonwater. I have assorted crystals, tiger-eye, onyx, hematite, rose quartz… I do not know much about the crystals though. So, yeah, What Wren Said
