What's the best means of finding tarot decks?

Tarot is a major part of my practice, as my main form of divination, and I’m yet to get a tarot deck that really speaks to me if that makes sense. One that I resonate with. However in my search it’s been difficult to find reputable sellers or decks that fit my needs (particularly as a beginner I find illustrations very beneficial). And so I was wondering where/how do people get their tarot decks?

Fancy Friday Thenialas,

I order mine from Llewellyn.com. I love the Earth Woman deck; and I picked up a political deck also.

Happy Hunting,

  1. The artwork has to speak to me. If I don’t find it beautiful and meaningful, I move on.
  2. Further in this vein, if the artist’s interpretation of the cards doesn’t align with their original meaning (and what they mean to me), I know it won’t be a good fit.
  3. I trust my gut. Sometimes a deck will “check all my boxes” but still, something in me says no.
  4. This point might sound identical to the last one, but it’s slightly different. It’s happened a couple times where I bought a deck that I loved, but when shuffling and “getting to know” the cards, I sensed a discord. The only way I can describe it is, we weren’t getting along. Maybe like you go on a date with someone and even though everything looks good on paper, you’re just not clicking. After telling myself I was being silly and looking for a way around it for awhile, I finally accepted my feeling and “rehomed” the decks. Once I decided to, I knew I made the right choice.

I’ve bought decks on amazon before, as well as my favourite online “metaphysical” store dragonmoon.ca. Brick-and-mortar stores are good too if there are any close to where you live.

Good luck :sparkles:

I really loved what they had but they don’t ship internationally and I don’t want to buy from Amazon even if they have the deck I was looking at :frowning:

Ouh I love this analogy. But yeah I really don’t like buying off of Amazon, and the shipping costs on dragonmoon.ca were unfeasible for me, I fear I do not have much money. I did a search and there’s maybe 2 metaphysical stores within a 2 hour drive from me (rural Australia issues) which could be worth checking out, but they’re both in areas I’m really unfamiliar with and it’s a matter of getting there hehe. I do really like your points!

Yeah, amazon sucks haha. And I can only imagine what the shipping costs are to Aus from Canada! :grimacing:

I googled online stores in Aus and these two came up.

Super Saturday Thenialas,

I don’t know what is available in Australia. Sometimes I order from Etsy.

Political Deck? I’ve never heard of that. How is it different?

Scintillating Saturday Grandfatheroak,

Certainly. The Fool shows a blind Trump supporter leaving the polling place, blindly and foolishly walking off a cliff. The Magician shows Putin holding strings on the puppet Trump, with symbols of Russia behind Putin and Trump dancing on a stage of the American flag. King of Pentacles shows President Reagan and with the Hollywood sign in the background and the words, Tear Down That Wall. This is just some of the cards.

I think I bought it off Amazon for around $20, end of last year.

It is hilarious  :joy:
