New in tarot Oracle

Hi, i have a question. I AM new in tarot And even though I’ve read about it and played some cards, I’m still a little confused, I think it’s because of my dyslexia. I use the Rider Waite deck, does anyone have any suggestions to help me?

The Rider-Waite deck is usually a good choice for the novice. For what it’s worth I started with them then switched to a couple of different decks - I have been back with Rider-Waite for some time now. It is important that the cards speak to you, that they feel right to you. What deck you use really isn’t as important. Your dyslexia may be an issue as you learn, but as you become familiar with each card and what it means to YOU, it will no longer be an issue at all. Research what a card means, hold it, feel it - what does it mean to YOU. While it is important to learn the history, it is your personal interpretation that will matter most. My cards are consecrated, and I keep them in black silk, in a wooden box (also consecrated) that is used just for them. Before I do any reading, I prepare myself and the area of the reading. I generally face north but you may want to face a different direction. You may want to start with one or two-card readings. Do a few (but NOT a lot) each day to become more familiar with your cards. I could go on and on, but there are many people here who may offer other ideas, so I will wish you well and say Brightest Blessings!

Thank you sooi much for your words:heart:. I have two decks. Both are Rider Waite, but one is the standard deck and the other has words to help you learn. I’ve been using the second deck. I usually do a three-card reading (past, presente and future). I was thinking about dedicating each day to a card or suit, however, since I already wanted to make a tarot grimoire, I think now would be a good way, right? And may Athena bless you :sparkles:

As you are using the second deck in the learning process, I would still hold and talk with my primary deck. Treat it like a teacher, a friend, a lover, a direct line to the universal oneness. I think your idea of the grimoire is a good idea. Writing and reading out loud are two very good ways of enhancing memory. One thing you may want to try is to take one random card from the deck without asking any questions. Follow your intuition - what does the card say to you, how do you interpret it to apply to your day? Speaking of intuition, never be afraid to stray from the basic “this card means this” ideology when your heart is telling you something else, especially if you are doing a reading for someone else and it is very negative. Another good way to learn to interpret cards is to do one-card readings for simple questions other than yes or no. I know people who swear the meaning is very different when the card is reversed, and I know others who say it doesn’t matter in the slightest. I also know people who will only do a certain layout for readings. Bottom line, you have to know your cards and they speak only to you. Sounds to me like you have a very positive attitude and that is the most important part of the process. Brightest Blessings!

Thanks for your kind and educational words:blush::heart:. I Will try what you have Said. I didn’t quite understand what you meant about the second deck. I haven’t used the regular deck yet because I don’t feel ready yet. I still feel like I need to learn more before I can use it.

I completely agree! Writing does help your memory. Also, pulling a random card and letting it speak to you is helpful. All divination tools require one to learn their energy and language. Have fun and relax. You will succeed!

You will have a different connection with your training deck (second deck), than you will with your primary deck. Even if you don’t use your primary deck in your learning process, it would be good to hold them, perhaps consecrate them, develop your connection with them on a very deep level. Talk to them, let them speak to you. That way when you feel comfortable switching from the training deck to the primary deck it will be like developing an even deeper bond with a close friend instead of having to meet a stranger. Brightest Blessings!

Thanks you:heart:,I will then start writing my grimoire and then I will show you all:heart::sparkles:

Keeping a journal specifically for your readings is an excellent course to take. Also, keep in mind that while learning the official meanings of the cards can be helpful in the beginning, if you want your readings to feel truly organic and natural, treat those meanings with a grain of salt, as sometimes rules can get in the way of your intuition.

Blessing and charging the cards in an initiation ritual also helps to establish a personal bond if you haven’t done so already.

Finally, the best advice anyone ever gave me on tarot when I was beginning is this: start with one-card daily readings, only with a twist: ask the cards and shuffle them in the morning what the energy of the day will be, but don’t pull the card until the evening when the day is done. It really helps to fast-track your understanding of the energies of the cards.

Cheers!
