NEW to tarot and want to check my interpretation

I’ve been doing a one card pull each morning and today’s card was “the world” suggesting that I’ve completed some great accomplishment and there is cause for celebration. Then I went to work, got a migraine, threw up, and came back home. My first response to situations like this is usually a healthy dose of sarcasm so I am thinking, “Woo hoo! Look at me conquering the world!l” as I quietly slink off to a dark, quiet space.

The reframe came when I realized that part of the reason I opened my own practice and stopped working for large agencies was precisely so that I could do self-care. Now I have a business where I can reschedule client appointments and have the ability to rest when I need to rest. Not all the time of course because when self-employed the choices are work or starve but there is certainly more flexibility now.

I don’t know if this is in line with what the world card was getting at but it’s not the end of the day yet so maybe some other magnificent thing will happen but just was curious about getting thoughts from people with more experience. Thank you!

I’d say that the world isn’t really about celebrating accomplishments or conquering anything. It’s more about coming to the end of one journey, taking a moment to look back the way you came and realize just how far you’ve had to go to make it to where you are, before starting down the fool’s journey again. There’s never really a ‘reaching’ or ‘achieving’ in the sense we think of it now in the major arcana, save those interpretations for the 10 of cups :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean, idk what deck you’re using and some decks can skew the traditional meanings of cards one way or another, but ime the “world” in the world card is not one you’re standing at the top of, it’s one you’re finally able to see all (or yknow, most) of. It sounds like you had a realization of that sort today, where you were able to see that the life you’ve built now is better for you than the life and job you had before ^-^

Hi Jenny,

In the June Tarot talks we went over a lot of discussion with the Major arcana, and I had a good conversation there with Lady Gene about the World, you might find it insightful:

Like Featherfae mentioned, it’s more about reaching the end of a journey or finding completion in something. Let me know if you have any more questions or confusion after reading that.

Cheers. :lotus:

I’m using a learners deck and the part about accomplishment, completion and celebration all came from that guidebook. There’s also words on the card itself, which was similar themes of success and fulfillment.

Yes, if you look at it from looking at things from a “broader, over-looking” perspective, then her experience makes sense. Naturally when you reach the world you start to see things from a bigger perspective now that you’ve seen the whole journey that led you to that point. :lotus:

I mean, it’s not not those things, but more fulfillment and success in the sense of like, reaching the end of the cycle and feeling that part of your journey has been concluded, but the major arcana is all about cycles and journeys, and it doesn’t really have an end, just a place to pause before re-starting. I think about it less in a success the way we see it now, (i.e. financial, job-wise, becoming your ‘best self’, etc.) and more like success in… idk, you’ve harvested enough to last the winter and now you can look back on your year and appreciate it, but you’ll still have to do the work of collecting food next year. Idk if that makes total sense, but yknow. Tarot is very up to interpretation and intuition. What it says in the guidebook is just a starting place, your own knowledge and intuition should weigh more on your interpretation than just what the guidebook says!

Out with the old, I say! LOL

But yeah you may get more insight by the end of the day.

A tip I got when I was beginning in Tarot is similar to what you’re doing, only when you pull your card of the day, you leave it face down on your altar and put off actually looking at it until the end of the day. I felt like that really helped me a lot to fast-tracking my understanding of the energies of each card. :lotus:

Oh, that’s a really interesting approach. I’m not sure my curiosity would let me do that, however, with ADHD I generally forget what the card is by the time I close my journal. :woman_shrugging:t3:

This actually makes a lot of sense to me because as I was reading the guide I was thinking that I’m never really done, everything is always in process and continuing to develop to some degree.

The World card in this pull points to your exposure to new ideas and communities that will change you.

Like this one maybe!

Hello,
regarding the Tarot cards that I have not worked with. I want to write that they appeared around the 12th/13th century, This is the time of the greatest persecution of the heretics, pagans and freethinkers. This is the time of the Inquisition. According to my analysis, the Inquisition died precisely from the society created through Tarot. Most likely, in addition to Prediction and patronage, these Tarot cards were also used for secret messages.
But what is certain is that the Inquisition was liquidated and the path to the Renaissance was opened. That Renaissance was realized several centuries later.
I wish you health and happy days!

Aww . . JennyWren - I’m sorry you had such a shite day. Worst case it’s just one card and your day is coming to a close. Tomorrow is another day and fresh start for something better to come your way. Blessings to you.
