Super Sunday Sorcerers,
Started a day late, oops.
So, to start the general conversation for May.
Did everyone/anyone perform the cinnamon ritual for this month? I do it the first day of every month. Cinnamon blown out of each doorway (and garage door), and I repeat, “with this cinnamon I have blown, allow no evil to enter this home”.
I am thinking that everyone had a great Beltane. I talked to my daughter, my BFF, and some other significants who have passed. The moon and the sunrise were beautiful this morning.
Everyone, have a great morning, and let us set our sights for a wonderful Summer!!!

No, didn’t know that one. As I say, learn something new every day!
Today the kids are coming by. Took down my portable altar like I always do,
then looked around. It was shocking just how much witchy stuff I had all over!
I used to wonder how witches got caught back in the old days, didn’t they stay
undercover? Well, it’s easy I think. Doesn’t just everyone have a crystal ball just
sitting there on the shelf? No biggie, right? RIGHT??

I’ve heard a similar version of that with either a cinnamon broom or using a broom to sweep it out, but I like your version… so simple and easy!
I celebrated Vesak. Thank you for the well-wishes. Many May Blessings ~
Nah, nothing witchy or weird about a crystal ball - that’s just decor! It’s the black scrying mirrors that I think look the most suspicious. You don’t have one of those hanging up, do you?
lol!

No, but the statues of Lilith had to… be on display in the closet.
I’m just not ready to tell the kids about this yet. First time my transmasc
son has even been here to my old folks shack. Best to not stress out too much!

Musta been the pointy hats! Or the brooms that were always pristine, never dirty?

I get it totally Sedim.
It can be awkward coming out of the closet!
LOL I can imagine that conversation already:
"Your floor is so dusty! Don’t you have a broom?"
( pristine broom sits in the corner, adorned with brilliant gems )
“…I don’t know what you’re talking about! The floor is fine!”
Truthfully, the majority of people they “caught” weren’t witches! (Le gasp!) Such a shock, I know…
@Lady-Gene We’re on a roll!!
Incidentally, I went out quite laden with stones and some heavy protection today. I got some looks because I can’t hide all that even if I tried! My biggest piece is an iron troll-cross. I think it was working!
(Honestly if I were alive back then they would’ve chucked me in a river so fast…)

But do you weigh the same or more as a duck?
You know that scene in Monty Python & the Holy Grail?
I’ll go get it from youtube if not! It’s HILARIOUS!

My god that logic is just… impossible to argue! She’s a witch!!

If you ever want to go all in on gothic witchy decor, just let me know, lol. Hell, I’m still kinda goth and my space still kind of reflects that. This is why I was so bewildered by my new path!
Cheers.
Edit: Wait a minute - is gothic Buddhism a thing? looks it up OH MY GOTH IT IS.

Merry Monday Magicians,
Just a thought…Pets, not necessarily familiars, are they necessary?
I have an argument that yes a pet is necessary for a witch. This is my argument pro.
How do you expect to make a connection to the gods/goddesses if you cannot make a personal connection to a species that has different communication skills, here from the same planet?
So, YES!! I believe it IS necessary to have a pet, not necessarily a familiar. You learn how to connect with an animal (take your choice, rodent, amphibian, mammal…) you should have an easier time being able to connect with the cosmos/deities…
Just my take on things.

I think so, yes. I had to give our barn cat to my son, he also lives alone and needed him.
Eventually I went out and got two Gerbils. (Salt & Pepper/B&W) as I NEEDED company,
but was afraid I couldn’t take care of a cat. (You can set up Gerbils for days of food/water)
Now I feel I can get a cat, but it will have to be a kitten, who I can train that Gerbils are Friends!

Absolutely, animal companionship can be deeply transformative, whether you’re in the practice or not… It can kindle empathy for other creatures and forms of life, compassion… awareness of other realms, indeed! All good points.
I’ve had cats for nearly my entire life, but I can’t have pets at the moment - my apartments have raised their pet fees to the point that it’s not financially wise.
But I’m not ruling out the possibility of getting a pet after moving though. In the meantime I’m feeding the birds! lol
But even if you don’t have pets you can still have strong bonds with nature, if one’s heart and mind is set on it. My father has never had very strong bonds with in-house pets, but he was obsessed with seeing animals in nature. This obsession had a huge impact on my early life, as we camped all the time! Now that he’s retired he’s a full-time nature photographer now.
Cheers.

Me too! Suet all winter, and now I have a bird-bath and seed feeder I keep stocked.
I was going to get a bird pet but I really don’t know anything about keeping them.
(My mother did have Canaries) and I saw the prices, what sticker shock! So I got Gerbils
as I did have them when I was a kid. Got my first cat when I moved out of parents home.
They LOVE their wheel, in there all day & all night. Sounds of other Life in my home!

Nice! I’ve yet to get a bird bath that wouldn’t topple over in the excessive winds up here - but that would be nice… would love a bird for an actual pet as well - birds are hilarious. Gerbils are adorable! It’s hard not to fantasize about getting a small pet like that… lol.

I’m lucky in that I inherited a concrete birdbath here, they’re very expensive. We’ve had
ones made of plastic & ceramic and they broke. The stand is the hard part, the bowl could be
anything from a resale shop really, I don’t think the birds care! But they want to be up high.

You guys honestly made my night with these jokes! It’s so awesome to see the paths of different witches and their interpretations and humor. I always thought that I was insane for wanting to connect deeply to nature and hell, once in a while just dance in the rain and connect to something beyond the naked eye. Im so glad I found this path it brings me so much joy honestly! And sedim_haba i totally understand the feeling of feeling almost suffocated stuck from revealing the truth, but when I’m feeling down i like to talk to my spirits and deities on the matter! Evreyone has a right time to come out to you loved ones and I feel it’s important you get to choose that time!
