As a baby witch I have reached out to different gods and goddesses but I’m not sure if that’s how you should approach divination. The deities I shave reached out to dont seem to mind but I’m not sure if when working with deities you wait for them to reach out to you or if you reach for them first. I just don’t want to accidentally disrespect a deity by for example making a petition but they don’t even want to work with me

The best way to know if a deity is reaching out to you is by receiving repetitive thoughts. For me, I had seen and heard the word caduceus over and over before realizing that it was Hermes reaching out to me. Another one is Horus. I would always hear “Vengeance of Horus”, as it was a way for him to reach out. I’ve learned that they can use certain lines of dialog or images to reach out to you. As of now, I work with Horus for some spiritual work. (Mostly banishment of evil souls.)

Sometimes it is difficult to realize which deities work for you. Mostly it seems to be a trial and error. When I changed a deity but things started becoming chaotic, it was time to change again. Like I said, trial and error is how I finally settled on mine. Took about 6-9 months to figure them all out. I still play around with others sometimes.
