What's your favorite decks to work with?

I always seem to go bak to the classic Rider Waite deck, but the dekc I learned on is the EVERYDAY WITCH TAROT which has great images and helps guide you in understanding each cards meaning. I recommmend it highly for those who are learning. you can purchase on Amazon.

I only have one deck, my mum gifted it to me. Its a Gravity Falls tarot with pictures from the cartoon on every card, I don’t really feel too much of a connection and want to get an animal deck but id feel bad to not use the one she gifted me :,)

Hands down this divine deck by Linzi Silverman, with whom I had the great pleasure to have one of my first readings. They illustrated the deck themselves and it brings insights that integrate into the other decks I use; Kim Krans’s Archetype and Animal Spirit decks. I also use Lenormand. I’ve got a kooky way of readings.

Didn’t notice this thread, hijacked different thread. so I’ll just copy pasta what I wrote over there.

Sorry.

I’m still using the same Rider-Waite deck from the early 70’s. I feel I still am learning from it.

I treat it as what some theorize about Tarot, that it’s an ancient, unbound, book of Archetypes.

Merry Meet Eliot,

Keep your mother’s deck, of course. Buy a deck that resonates with you. I just found out about Lenormand cards, and for me, that looks MUCH easier than tarot. I have a difficult time with Tarot, the cards just don’t “speak” to me; Lenormand, just the visual, does a lot for me. There is nothing wrong with finding a deck that appeals to you. You do not have to “get rid of” the one your Ma gave you. You do not have to worry that the deck may get “jealous”. That deck is/has respect for your Ma. Find one that works for you.

Superb Saturday, Lady Gene :crystal_ball: :magic_wand:

My first Tarot deck was the Marsella, i bought it in a esoteric shop when i was first starting.

Then, a beloved friend of mine gifted me for my birthday The Ligth Visions Tarot and this one really resonates with me. Thinking about getting a new one tho! I like pink ones, some recommendations?

I recommend becoming aquainted with Rider-Waite

It’s all over the internet, You may not need to actually buy the deck.

Fabulous Friday Lostinthewind (related to Dancingwithwolves?; my smart :donkey: rearing its head)

I do not pay attention to the color of the cards as much as the artwork. I love Earth Woman, but I cannot use it yet, as I am still familiarizing myself with the cards/artwork.
I have 3 RWS tarot decks. The normal tarot size in plastic so they do not come apart. My first RWS deck only lasted less than a year, before it started to tear - it was also the oversized, large version; maybe “ass why” (little Hawaiian humor). I also have a mini RWS tarot that I can carry on the bus, and use when I have to wait somewhere. I have a regular size RWS, but it is a beginner deck. It has the usual RWS pictures, but smaller, with explanations around the edges. Great for learning. I am using this one most of the time. As I become more comfortable with the images, I will use my plastic deck, relying more on my intuition.
I have a deck called United States of Tarot by Elena Lee McCune—this is only for a keeper. For example the Ace of Wands shows the Space Shuttle take off. The 4 of Pentacles has Mitch McConnel holding the Pentacles. Major Arcana card 1, the Magician, shows Putin as a puppet-master with Trump as the puppet. Zero, the Fool, shows a man leaving the polling place with his guide-dog, but he is walking off the cliff while the dog is gripping the leash in its mouth. I just HAD to buy this for the historical significance. You know how it goes….I didn’t know I NEEDED it until I SAW it.

I love Lenormand, it seems easier, I have a Thelema Lenormand (beautiful pictures), and a Pocket Lenormand by “Red Wheel”, with very simple pictures.

So, that’s what I have and why. Love ‘em all. Lady Gene :turtle:

Greetings -

Love the color scheme of the Light Visions Tarot! (Just looked it up.)

My favorite deck is the Tempest Tarot by Maisy Bristol: https://artisantarot.com/products/tempest-tarot-deck

But I originally learned on Raider-Waite. There’s a certain charm is has, just for being the original tarot.

I also have used the Wild Unknown tarot by Kim Krans. That’s a great deck for no-nonsense readings and shadow-work. I’ve used other ones, but those have been the standouts for me.

Cheers. :lotus:

Hope you are having a wonderfull Sunday Lady Gene!:star: Im so excited to meet you! I’ve seen around your posts and thought maybe one day we cross paths guess today is the day!

I came up with Lost In the Wind as a reference to a song that says “long dress in the wind” then i pictured that moment of Carrie Bradshaw when she sees Big and Natasha, shes wearing a long white dress. Lol i know its random but idk!! liked the vibes (at leats the ones i imagened right? hahah)

By the way, sorry if my english is kinda weird im from Argentina! (guess it comes with a justification)

I looked up the Earth Woman Tarot, such beautifull ilustrations and use of colors, definitly goes with the vibe im getting from you!. You know, for some reason where i live its rare to see the RWS, thats why i had to bought the marsella one! The United States Tarot is unique thats for sure !! i like the 8 of pentacles is funny haha i dont know the men but hes having a blast, as well as the tower card lol love that for trump.

So, as why i will like to have a pink tarot, im pretty much a pink girlie, and red too. Is my fav combo. Maybe it doesnt affect anything if we talk about my habilities reading it, but i feel i will like the pink RWS (i saw it on the internet and maybe i can get one hehhe)

Its lovely to meet you, Lady Gene. Best, Lady Lost :sunflower:

Super Sunday Lost,

 So glad you were not offended by my Dancing with the Wolves comment.

Unfortunately, I do not know who you are referring to. Not sure how much of me you know, but I am recently recovering from a 10-year “coma”. (Coma was only for a week in 2015, but I was a “walking” coma for the next 8 or so years. I was functional, awake, eating, bathing, but not quite “there”. I have been “coming round” since about 2023, and within the last couple months, have finally become fully aware)

I do have a picture in my mind, very beautiful. Red, is my favorite color. Unfortunately, my family assumes that I like pink, but I do not, to me, it’s a watered-down red. Not quite the “oomph”.

I did not know RWS had a pink deck!

Argentina!!! I worked with a fellow dealer from there. How is your weather, there? So, you’re coming to the end of summer? Do you have major changes with the weather? I’m in Vegas, but have lived in Hawaii and Mexico, so I have seen mild weather–I lived in Pennsylvania for a year, and it was a big blizzard year there, blizzard of 1978-79. So, I have seen different weather areas, but have never been in the Southern Hemisphere. Today, we’re a little colder than usual (the whole week has been cold) as I type this its 7a.m. but only 38 degrees. Our spring here in Vegas doesn’t really start until after Easter. Easter here is always cold, a couple weeks later it starts to warm up. I could never understand the easter hunts, and flowers and dresses in such cold weather!

As for your name…whatever works. Took me a while to pick mine. Long story, but it happens to be my middle name, AND is equal to the number relating to my birthday. If you don’t understand, ask me, and I will explain.

So, glad we have finally “met” to have a discussion.

Super Sunday, my Little, Lost, lovely  Lady Gene :turtle:

In case you have not noticed yet, I love alliteration.

Oh no! im not offended at all i found it funny!

I meant i saw your comments around the forum and thought to myself “ one day i will talk to her she seems fun and wise”. I didnt know about the comma i am so sorry :frowning: but at the same time, im happy you became fully aware again

Red is beautifull, is full of life and passion. My favorite is the brigthtest red ! And for the pink, im very fond of fucsia.

Did you know there is a mean girls tarot deck? ( its from the movie) tell me you know what im talking about please! haha it was so iconic in the 2000s

Im living in CABA ( its the capital of buenos aires) and in the city, yes, we are aproching the end of summer, a lot of people in summer escapes the city to the coast, since in there the temperature (depending on the day ofc) but its like its always spring, cold mornings, nice shiny days…just one word, mar del plata. If you like to search it up, mar del plata is the love of my life. Yes, on that level. While in the city the cement of buildings levels up the heat, in there you can eat churros in the morning, have walks without melting and so much more!

I once went horse riding to a family farm (not mine i can just dream about it) and i have this crazy experience where the horse just decided it was my day and started running? out of nowhere?? and then i couldnt stop it and the guys behind me, the guys where screaming “PARALO, PARALO”. When i tell you, they had to come and stop it for me… ( i was terrified) the next day everyone in my family even I was laughing about it hahah.

I would love to come to Vegas and get married, but i am alredy. Yes, im 22. Yes, i did it out of love. No, im not traditional and no, im not planning to have a baby. Yes i know its weird but i just know its him.

Here, Autumn is about to come. It takes until April for cold weather to come back. So March is kinda of a fever dream, with some hot days and not so hot ones. You should definitly come some day, we have alfajores, asado ( even tho i am vegan but it seems to be very cool), we have messi and some italian rooted people. AND a lot of icecream. And boca, the futbool team.

As for my name, im still “lost in the wind”. Thinking about it still, because pink girlie wasnt an option right? hahah

i am curious, how did you came up with Lady Gene? if you’ll like to explain

Well, Sensational Sunday Lost,

Yes, I do remember Mean Girls, and I love it!! A tarot deck you say, I will probably love it!!

Yeah, I’ve seen horses do that!! But it IS scary, even if you are experienced with horses. A runaway is no joke! (& dangerous) I know functional Spanish, I’m married to a Mexican, although he does not speak it at home. I have 2 boys here (nephew and grandson, who are Mexican and use Spanish and English) so I’m getting it here, now. Unfortunately, my husband NEVER used Spanish with our son, so he is completely left out. when the other guys are talking. (Long, long, story….don’t really want to go there, I will not be able to get “off my soapbox” if I do.)

So, you’re married  :ring: . I’ve been married this time for 30 years. First one, 11, but about 10 1/2 years tooooooo long. My kids vary in age from 46 to 30, and grandkids from 20 to 3. Youngest son is 30, nephew 26 and grandson 25, all here at home, waiting for son’s wife in India to get here, anytime. He’s been waiting since just before COVID. Long story, this is the short of it… My son has been waiting since 2019 for his wife to come from India. He was scheduled to leave in March and bring her back. BUT….COVID shut everything down in 2020. Now….all the red-tape, change in President, COVID closing down everything, Government shutdowns…I could keep going, but you get the picture. So, we’re still waiting, the Gov’t stance is available only on the web-site, and this is what it has said, for over 3 years, “you application has been accepted…it is under review”—but that’s all!!! There is no contact phone #, and unless we have a bazillion dollars to hire a lawyer….we gotta just “hurry-up and wait”—-if you are not aware, that is a popular phrase we use here in the USA in reference to the military, it is always “hurry-up and wait” with the Army. A little US humor. Whoa, took a long time there, sorry…

Do you work? No kids? Here we refer to some couples as DINKWAD—but not bad, means Double Income No Kids, With A Dog  One thing that stayed with me after the coma, is I still like to talk in quotes, usually movie quotes, such as “I’m your Huckleberry”—Doc Holliday in Tombstone basically means, I’m here for the fight….I’m not backing down.

I don’t know what Alfajores are, but I love asada, especially al pastor style. Here Al Pastor is roasted pork with pineapple….hmmmmm :face_savoring_food: What is Messi?

As for my name, it was suggested to use the “witches conversion table” where letters are given numbers 1-9, use the total number of your birthdate, my case 12-17-1964 equals 31, down to 4, and since I was given a second chance at life, I wanted to “go back” and my middle name is GENE and it comes to the number 22 (divine number) that also goes down to 4. So, that is how I choose my name.
The “witch conversion table”….numbers 1-9, with letters in order a,b,c,….so that A is 1, B is 2, C is 3 and so on. So Gene, equals 22.

Well, this is getting long, and son (30 yrs old) wants to hit the jewelry store for some repairs and to sell some little stuff. So, have a great sunday, catch ya later…..adios.
