What Are Your Most Pressing Questions When It Comes to Witchcraft and Magic?

I was obsessed with Unicorns and Horses growing up, I probably ‘bought’ into

western culture’s portrayal of Dragons as ‘Chaotic Evil’ as like with Smaug. :dragon:

Well considering that you had a Horse spirit guide, that may have been an early sign as well!

Every time I saw a dragon get killed in any story I would get so upset as a child… The Dragonheart movie was the greatest thing ever because it was actually sympathetic! And Haku was my greatest crush in Spirited Away - he was a river-dragon who saved the little girl (drawing a blank on her name.)

Sorry I’m rambling a little. :dragon: :white_heart:

Edit: I will clarify that Haku had a human form! Just realized how that sounded lol.

Speaking of dragons, another rabbit hole for you. Hera’s garden with the golden apples which may or may not represent immortality (Apples of the Hesperides - Wikipedia) is guarded by the serpent dragon Ladon ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladon\_(mythology) )…

Ah! Another mystery solved! The fruit forbidden is often presented as an apple,

but it wasn’t, I wondered where the apple idea came from, as it’s not declared

as such in the original text. It’s from the Greek, a major influence on Edom.

This reminds me of the Norse goddess Iðunn - another keeper of golden apples that gave eternal youth and immortality.

There are no serpents I’m aware of in her poetry though. ( Unless you count Loki being a snake of a man! :joy: )

So, are there any Apples in legend that are associated with Wisdom, I wonder?

( Gah! Don’t wink at me like that Loki! I’m onto you! :joy: )

Apples of Wisdom? I’ll have to get back to you on that one… nothing is coming to mind currently. What kind of fruit was it supposed to be in Eden?

What kind of fruit was it supposed to be in Eden?

WELL… AUTISM ALERT!

Forbidden Fruit

Tree_of_the_knowledge_of_good_and_evil

It’s got it’s own Lore in Kabbalah. First of all, it was never meant to be forever forbidden.

It was MADE for humans, but only after they matured a bit more. They’re still ‘freshmen’.

Adam was whisked off to Eden PREMATURELY because of his fight with Adama, see?

It was NOT supposed to be a test. At least not yet. And not just for one of them.

There is a theory that it was like the Grape. Yes, I know that’s a vine, but the fruit was like

grapes in that wine was supposed to be made out of it. Wine for ‘sacramental’ use!

Wine is closely associated with Joy in Judaism. All joyful celebrations MUST have wine!

Hmm! Not sure if this is a true lead but I thought this was interesting about pomegranates (a fruit my mind went to because of their significance in Greece - the eating of pomegranate seeds leading to the “fall” of Persephone). It looks like it’s quite significant in Israel as well? Pomegranates in Ancient Civilizations

> Wiki: The name pomegranate derives from medieval Latin pōmum, apple and grānātum, seeded. … Pomegranates were colloquially called wineapples or wine-apples in Ireland

The pomegranate is one of the Seven Species of fruit and grains listed in the Hebrew Bible as special products of the Land of Israel.

It looks like there’s also something called pomegranate molasses - but in Persian is called “Pomegranate Wine

Good find! From a wayback link in that wiki:

In Genesis, the first book of the Torah, the fruit that prompted Adam and Eve’s expulsion from Eden may have been the pomegranate, some scholars say. It’s not likely, they argue, that apples flourished in that first garden. Later, the Hebrews searched for the Promised Land, looking for a list of clues to prove they had arrived. The list? Wheat and barley, vines and figs, olives and honey and pomegranates. The round red fruit with its own crown, or calyx, decorated the robes of Jewish priests and some of the pillars in the temple in Jerusalem. Tradition says that each pomegranate holds 613 seeds, or arils, one for each commandment in the Torah. Today, pomegranates are often part of Rosh Hashana celebrations, their seeds embodying the hope that the new year will be fruitful.

Thank you so much for your work! It makes a difference for me :two_hearts: I would like more information on the structure and shape of spells and the accompanying rituals. I mean how do you open, how do you close, how do you cast a circle? How do you protect yourself during the spell/ritual? How do you keep from junking up a spell with unnecessary references, symbols, etc. I tend to overthink and sometimes I feel I dilute the effectiveness of my work with unnecessary things in an attempt to “cover all the bases”. Again, thank you so much!!!

Thank you! That means a lot

Those are really great questions! I just published this article on how to open, close, and cast a circle. This isn’t the only way to do it, but it’s how I do it. In doing more research on it, I found it’s very similar to what Wicca’s Gerald Gardner wrote in his Book of Shadows.

When it comes to protecting myself during big ritual work, I invoke the pentagram. It’s not hard, but each direction has a specific movement. I can do that post next. In other rituals I’ve done the LBRP, which is another form of invoking the pentagram but from ceremonial magic.

“How do you keep from junking up a spell with unnecessary references, symbols, etc” - tell me more / give me an example (a made up one is fine if you want to keep your own work sub rosa aka secret).

Well an example is when I cast for a new e-commerce business we are starting. I cast for funding, obviously, and got it. But I included a bunch of non-essential info like we request this for ourselves, to help our family, for our future, we seek security and plenty. I feel like the justifications and outcomes were actually distracting from the main goal of which was (and still is) a successful and thriving e-commerce biz.

I have another idea - a thought that came up after I engaged in this topic:

Can you include a short article on mental health and “crisis” magick? Like the risks of using magick while in distress - and when to seek help? That topic is not the first conversation I’ve had…

Excellent suggestion. Issue does come up regularly.

Thank you for the example! I’m not sure if all the other witches here would agree, but that actually sounds like a great focus and clear direction for your intention. And, it sounds like it worked. Especially with money spells, I like to be super clear.
