Hi, i'm a New Member to this forum so just reaching out

Hi, Just a Quick intro, so this online medium is all new to me. I don’t know what I am, a bit psychic, a bit intuitive, haven’t put a label on it and still finding out. I have had experiences that I can’t explain and I have had witnesses that can back these up, so I know they are very real. I am a male and I don’t know if this is common here, I usually think of witches as Women (blame holliwood) So I again don’t really have a Label. I read Runes, Tarot, have a strange ability to know what is happening in some peoples lives (usually who I have never met, or only known for a short time). This can be disconcerting. I was involved in the christian religion for a while (don’t hold that against me) but I found that no one was open to considering anything other than their perspective and I found this to be a bit ignorant and narrow minded. Any way psychic phenomena has always been part of my family with a lot of the women in my family having some form of ability or another. So anyway, having recently been diagnosed with mild ADHD and having all my life felt different, I thought i’d take a chance and reach out on here to anyone that is patient and willing to mentor a little bit, not looking for any major committment, just a little guidance along the way. So Hi, I know this is a mouthful, thats me, brain always travelling at 300 miles an hour. Feel free to say hi.

Welcome and merry meet.

It might surprise you as to how many of us here are male, so you are not that alone in that regard.

Terrific Tuesday Drew,

Sounds like you are in the right place!!! Sounds like you also have practical experience. Most of us have been on our own in figuring this out, so you are not alone. My mind goes much faster than I am able to speak, I understand that frustration. Have fun looking around, there is much to see.

You really don’t have to label your magick. My husband and I usually tell people we are eclectic. A little of this and a little of that.

Grandma goodmorning,

I am starting to lean to the phrase Stoic Witch, as I am studying Stoic philosophy, I realize that this was my innate beliefs as a child. So, instead of eclectic, solar, elemental…..I just stick with Stoic Witch. Stoicism is about controlling what you CAN and accepting what you CANT with dignity. Isn’t that Magick? Working with what we CAN change, and accepting what we CANT? So, this label seems to resonate with me.

Good morning, Lady -Gene.

I don’t label myself because I tend to do the magick that is needed for the situation. Whether it’s kitchen, green, psychic or hedge.

I also may call on deities from different patheons if I feel comfortable doing so. I lean more towards the Celtic gods and goddesses but have patention Nordic, Greek and Egyptian gods.

Yes, I hear ya. To outsiders, I just say I’m a witch, if they ask what type, then I’ll state it. About 2 weeks ago, walking back from the bus stop, 2 JW’s (Jehovah’s Witnesses) approached me, “can we talk to you about Jesus Christ?”….I shook my finger in a no. They said, “why not?”. So, I looked them square in the eyes and said, “because I’m a Witch.” You shoulda seen the looks on their faces. I bet they had a story to tell when they returned to the Kingdom Hall.:open_mouth:

Yes, I used different deities also, and like you, do not stick to anything particular. I am more of an elemental/solar. I do not “use” nor “have” many different “stuffs”. I have my wand, white and black candles, tarot and lenormand cards….and just other small things. All fit’s into a small case, like a ladies overnight case for make up and a few clothes. I have always kept my items “light” because of all the moving I had done…need to be ready to MOVE. I had to move a family of 4 by plane with only what could be carried on. Learned how to not have “stuff” Especially after one move, some items I had sent ahead the Post Office had lost. So, I learned to travel very light. Be able to grab what is necessary at a moments notice. No “stuff” to have to worry about. Even my portable altar fits into an Altoids box. Lady Gene :phoenix:

Oh, I got to tell you about the JW’s around here.

  1. we have a Kingdom Hall, a quarter mile from my house.
  2. the Jehovah’s Witnesses in my county have been afraid of me for 40 years now , longer than I have been practicing. I asked them a question about the Bible when I was 15 years old and they still don’t have an answer. When they realized it was me after we bought this house. I have never seen anyone leave so fast. I love it.

Welcome! Autistic Male Witch here. If I was female I’d have the Hedge Witch label,

but as a man, I’m a Shaman. I was involved with Judaism for four decades, I can’t

hold being Xian against you, don’t worry about that. I have absolutely no psychic

powers whatsoever, so you have a huge advantage there all I have is a Familiar.

Welcome again!

Welcome Drew!

Honestly, don’t feel pressured to pick a label. Sure, it might make things simple in introductions, but in the end we’re all individuals. Even as someone who’s been in the pagan world their entire life, at times I haven’t had a label to define myself either…

Some see witch as a gender-neutral term - I’m in that camp, so that’s not necessarily off-limits if you wanted to use it.

I don’t think anyone here will hold your past as a christian against you. Many who have felt rejected by their narrow minded views end up choosing this one. It’s more common than you think!

There are certainly many here with experience that are happy to help - myself included.

Cheers!

Merry Meet Drew

The Pagan Grimoire represents all walks of life and covers a very broad spectrum of pagan beliefs and practices. I don’t care if you were Christian. I have a friend who is a Christian Witch. Not quite sure how she does it, but I don’t judge. You will also find that mental health issues and other things that often cause friction with mainstream religions are never a problem here.

If you read through a number of posts, it won’t take long for you to find someone or some idea that resonates with you.

Welcome

Omgs Lady Gene I just read your JW story.

I often fantasize about what I’d say if they come knocking (that hasn’t happened in a while. Knock on wood…:eyes:). Sadly it would feel dishonest now to call myself a witch - now you have me wondering!

LOL Cheers.

It’s always a good idea to have a plan ready-to-go for what you’ll say. I think I posted this here,

but maybe just on the coven’s discord, forgive if you’ve heard this. My new next-door-neighbors

are SUPER Xian. I’m talking every square inch of their walls covered in bible verses. Now, I

want to maintain good relations, as I said, next-door in a senior community, I don’t need a

bad rep and folk hating on me. I knew that they’d come by to talk church at me, so I made

a plan. I told them I was Seventh Day Adventist. Just odd enough to be a ‘heretic’ but not

‘unsaved satan spawn’ so they will probably leave me alone. The chances of there being

an actual 7th day A around here is pretty small, it’s a small denomination with a tiny church

next town over. Perfect. (Plus, I used to be a 7th day A way back in the 70’s when I left RC)

why are you not a witch, and wondering about what?

Sedim - Oh that’s very clever! No, I don’t remember you sharing that story.

This is actually a serious problem where I live, I’ve just been lucky I haven’t had too many confrontations. The christian presence here is overwhelming. We have almost 50 churches. First question I was asked when I moved here? “What church do you go to?” lol I just said “still looking!” and then avoided the whole topic… then had a co-worker once who I made the mistake of telling I was agnostic. Terrible decision, but it was the closest thing I could come up with at the time!

I think calling myself a Buddhist would be the least offensive of my truthful options, but I don’t think that would go well either.

Ah well… Cheers.

I meant wondering how I would respond to a JW if they approached me or knocked on my door.

My practice has undergone a radical change and I can’t define it as witchcraft. Go check my profile if you want to get an idea. Sedim has made me think it might be a type of Shamanism. I need to look into it further…

Cheers.

I know I can ‘fake’ 7th D.A., but you can always claim Unitarian Universalist. Kinda chill church.
