Question about advination (Scrying)

Somebody has used this method before, and what was your experience like? I’m curious about that.

Merry Monday Hyppolita,

I love scrying. I am new to it, so do not have much experience. I prefer scrying flames, in a dark mirror, or smoke. It is very disciplined in that you MUST empty your mind to receive the message you are to be receiving. As so much in the Craft, only you know what you are “seeing”. So much of scrying (or any divination) is being open to what knowledge is being passed to you. Sometimes, it is hard not to put your own meaning into what you are seeing. Just stay open to what you “feel”, that has much to do with interpretation. You need to “trust your gut”. Sorry that I cannot be much more help than that.

I tried scrying long ago. Failed at it, just like with hypnosis, it’s the Autism.

Ball, mirror, etc. nope. More recently, candle meditation worked a bit.

‘ooo looky at the dancing flame…’ Keeps the focus, with the subtle changes to draw attention again.

Merry Monday Sedim,

If your mind tends to wander….how about just a black mirror? Obsidian scrying surfaces can be expensive. Cheaply available, yet serves the same purpose….dark bathroom with a small candle for light…place candle behind you and sit in front of the mirror…the candle is only for slight illunination. Also, the black screen of your phone, can be used as a scrying surface. These 2 require little space, and almost no “goodies”. I have the same problem as you with my mind wandering. However, the flame seems to not distract me.:candle:

I guess I wasn’t clear, sorry. The standard ‘blank slate’ of a mirror, is what I have problems with.

I had very complex lighting systems, uniform mirror surface. Nope.

The candle meditations, those are what works for me. Best are the tall candles in glass that

are sold here in dollar tree. wind/breath won’t move the flame, and I don’t have to worry so

much about it being dangerous, being contained in a glass. The flame helps me focus best.

Magnificent Monday Sedim, Oh, now I think I know what your asking. If the candle works for you GREAT! The candle is at least catching your attention—–‘ooo looky at the dancing flame…’—-hae you tried meditation? I know, we hear that all the time. I had a really hard time, still do, learning how to meditate, but when I am consistent with the practice, I sleep much easier. If you start meditation, maybe it will help you scry. (my problem is my mind NEVER stops thinking….meditation was VERY hard for me learn, still not great at it. Getting my mind to “shut up” is very, very, very difficutl). I would start with just sitting with your candle in dark and quiet and let your mind wander, but concentrate on staying with the candle. Maybe after a little time perfecting that, then you should be able to start “listening” to the voices :upside_down_face:  Sorry, had to turn that into a joke…..but you understand what I am saying. I hope this helps :+1:

Ah, I see, yes I should try scrying with the candle. Actually, candle work is how I met my Familiar!

Just got so excited by that, I stopped going beyond just mediation. All time I have for things

like that, I dedicate to her. She helped me build my altar, for example, I woulda had no clue.

Merry Monday Sedim,

 So happy that you met your familiar like that! “Will wonders never cease?” I understand about your dedication….we all have a little of that, I think, or we would not call ourselves witches. Lady Gene :magic_wand:
