Magick for "dorm witches"?

I share my room with 3 roommates and my only private space is a desk and my bed, open fires/heat sources are also forbidden.

I try to adapt spells but sometimes i don’t know how, like i can’t perform candle magick because i’m not allowed to use it.

I also have to do them secretly without getting too much attention from my roommates, so i can only do stuff like written spells and visualization.

Are there other types of spells that doesn’t require a lot of material and can be done without getting unwanted attention?

Merry Meet,

With such limitations, I would suggest inward work, such as visualization (which you said you already use) yoga, which will help you connect with the “quarters” but only look like exercise to outsiders, and serious meditation. Sometimes it’s hard to find time and solitude. The solitude issue can be a problem. I approached it this way…..reading a book, I can totally eliminate any outside disturbences……so use that in my meditation. Even if the room is not completely quiet. Like reading my book, I get my head into my “story”. Maybe sit at a park, take a long bath, what ever…for your alone time. These require not much more than INTENTION!

I hope this helps sweetheart—Lady Gene :magic_wand: :crystal_ball:

Thank you!!:smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Very helpful!

Omg I wish I’d found this forum when I was at a dorm, because I had the same problem. My main tips are mostly the same as @Lady-Gene, but one thing I found helpful was to have a travel altar (if you worship a deity) because it’s compact and you can keep it with you so it doesn’t get found during room checks or if people come over. I also used fake candles, and scented candles that I just didn’t light. Good luck!

Crystals are a good substitution for fire and don’t attract unwanted attention. To outsiders they are simply pretty. I have a consecrated cloth that I use as a travel altar. You may be able to use some small cloth that would not raise any suspicion. I have a couple of sets of “fairy lights” that would make a good substitution for fire as well. As you know, much of our spell work requires some degree of visualization, you can visualize the fire and do the same work you would with an actual fire. Like Lady-Gene said, it is your intention that matters as much as anything. I like the other suggestions I have read here too. Bright Blessings.

I have recently mentioned in another reply that coloured threads can be a replacement for candles, as you are using the colour correspondences.

Spell knots using different coloured string or ribbons is another option too.
