There’s just so many different kinds of witch nowadays, I’m a Shaman which has
the same exact function and practice as a Hedge Witch only with the male label.
I really gotta look into the common factors. Like the Rede, is there others?

Sensational Sunday Sedim,
I cannot find the quote, although I doubt there is a reliable one, but the Stoic philosophy is the same as the Wiccan Rede. The Stoics believe to follow your conscious as long as it is for the greater good. Similar to “and it hurt none, do as you will.” Still reading, about 100 pages in. I have to stop every 10 pages or so and take a break to digest what I have read.

I know I refreshed my money bowl on Friday the 13th. Seemed like the right time instead of towards the beginning of the month. Good thing we have another Friday the 13th next month too in case anyone missed the good luck/abundance opportunity for ritual or spellwork.
I would probably have an even harder time! I remember a Zen book where I had to stop like every few sentences for it to sink in. Sometimes I didn’t. Autism for sure!
Greetings Lady Gene,
I think you’re right that most who fall under any occult/witch label are in truth of the gray variety - it’s just a matter of how honest and willing people are to acknowledge the opposing side of their natures. Those who identify too strongly with the White may be in denial of their shadow-selves, and vice-versa…
I don’t know how I feel about your statement on stoicism though. I suppose that might be true for the most traditional forms of witchcraft, and that’s probably the point of your statement, but I personally don’t think that’s true of other occult/esoteric traditions.
Cheers.
Merry Monday Wren,
Yep, I hear ya, and I was only making a general statement, since all of us practice our Craft a little differently. Lady Gene ![]()
I agree with everyone practices the craft differently. I see it being an individual, nuanced, unique experience. Sure there is crossover and shared resources/histories/pantheons, but it’s how we individually apply and tend to those resources within our own practices that make a beautiful cornucopia of magic in the world and in our community.
Fun Friday Friends of the Fae,
Well, many of us were hit by storms this past week. So, does anyone feel like next week will finally be it for the cold (those here in the Northern Hemisphere). Personally, I am afraid to make a guess. Here in Vegas, the last month, we have gone from record highs to record lows, within days of each other about 3 times already. So, I hazard to make a guess. I hope so, though.![]()
Just hanging “around the water cooler” for a Friday.
Lady Gene ![]()
Here in the northern midwest, we’ve seen extremes too. However, not much snow.
Just like last year. One good snowfall in early Dec. then just flurries without accumulation.
Greetings Lady Gene,
It’s actually been miraculously mild up here! We did get a cold front in the single digits and teens and a little snow for the last few days - but that’s nothing compared to the negative 20s (F) we usually get and the blizzards for February. We’ve had almost no snow since last fall and that is astounding. I almost feel like I live in California again! (Almost.) lol!
To the newcomers who don’t know - the climate I live in usually resembles the arctic circle (I may as well live there). Anything above 10° in the winter is good enough for me to consider it nice.
Lol… cheers.![]()

I was going to comment on this, but my main account was on hold at that time.
But the term Gray Witch means a witch who doesn’t follow a strict harm none (white) rule and also doesn’t identify as baneful (black). A gray approach is more about coercive work if they believe it’s justified. That isn’t me because I take harm none seriously. A lot of people think “gray” in that term just means being in the middle, staying on the light side while doing shadow work, but it’s not like that.
Super Saturday Keldan,
I was thinking grey as in I practice white, but occasionally I need to do a binding or banishing spell. Not necessarily doing black magick, but not quite white either, that is why I went with black. Not Glinda the Good everytime.
Lady Gene ![]()
Baneful (black) magick just doesn’t vibe with being a Shaman, but I do need to learn about it.
For defense. Gosh, just got the ‘Defense against the dark arts’ flashback in my mind. Ya, that.
Yesterday while I was about on the bus, I got a really weird feeling as I left the library, and I “placed” a protective dome around me, and a few minutes later, as a man was walking past me, I felt a strong heaviness in his presence. He passed me, barely clipping my sleeve. When he passed, I felt a relief, and no more need for my dome of protection. I guess the cosmos let me know ahead of time that he was coming.
Lady Gene ![]()
Yup, but not the cosmos, it was more personal, I feel.
I remember one time after our company moved, I saw this man working on the shipping dock
of the company across from us. Got such a negative vibe! Pure malice! Even at that distance,
I could see the other employees there, giving this guy a wide berth. Like not even looking at him.
Trust your ‘gut’ we have these senses evolved to help us survive. I stayed clear of where those
people parked for that other company. (It was a multi-unit industrial park, I was an Engineer.)
Exactly, if it’s done right, defensive magick isn’t necessarily black magick either - at least not in the sense that it accrues negative karma.
Everyone has a right to self-defense. It might be kind of a tricky subject on not pushing it too far, because there’s a point where self-defense can become malicious if it turns into revenge… but if it’s done within strong ethics, I see nothing evil about it.
Just my two cents. ![]()
Super Sunday Sedim,
Yes, always trust the gut!!! Lady Gene ![]()
Merry Monday all,
Well, this cold snap seems more like an “elastic” than a “snap”. It just won’t stop. Here in Vegas we DO get cold because we are high desert (almost a mile up….”mile high” like Denver), but this is going on the second week of waking up with freezing, literally, temperatures. This needs to stop. Punxatawney, I know you said more winter….but enough already!
Lady Gene

It was 16 F last night, way up here it seems sometimes I live by the arctic circle.
Without the aurora borealis that would make that neat. A bit farther north for that.
Manic Monday Sedim,
I would love to see the aurora borealis. Lady Gene ![]()
