Was this lucid dreaming? And am I closer to being able to astral project myself?

A couple weeks ago I was having a really intense dream and during the dream I started flying/levitating and was up high as the trees and then all of a sudden I realized “I don’t know how to fly” and then I started drifting back down to the ground and couldn’t “fly” anymore. Was me realizing that and it affecting my dream technically be considered lucid dreaming? I’m not sure that’s ever happened before. I’ve also been looking into and attempting for months to astral project, does this mean I may be closer to actually doing it?

Greetings Anjeli,

It sounded like you were very close to lucid dreaming, yes! As far as astral projection goes you could also interpret it that way, especially if that’s been prominent in your mind, that’s going to reflect in your dreams. I started astral projecting as a kid (I have what is called a “loose astral body” it’s both a gift and a curse) and I had numerous “falling” dreams before it happened the first time.

All your observations are on point! Keep working on cultivating that awareness in your dreams and you’ll be there in no time.

Cheers. :lotus:

Technically, Lucid Dreaming IS AP, just into the ‘local’ astral that you’re in every time you dream.

There’s many levels of Lucid Dreaming, the first is becoming aware that you ARE dreaming.

That’s the only state I’ve ever reached. Beyond that is ‘guiding’ your dream AKA changing

some aspect of it. Flying, going to another ‘location’ or even just making something appear

or disappear. I can’t do that, my dream is like RL and in RL I can’t ‘summon’ things.

I’d recommend becoming proficient in Lucid BEFORE trying AP. It’s safer that way.

I’ve been trying to astral project for a while and sadly have been unsuccessful. But there is multiple ways you could interpret that I would say gaining awareness though will lead you closer to being able to “control” you dreams!

Keep at it, it sounds like your close!
