Wanting to fully embrace the craft

Hello! My Craft Name is Mara. Ive always had a major interest in witchcraft/wicca/paganism. But always too scared to actually commit to learning and following it. Im finally at the point where I don’t care what others may think about what I do with my life!

Ive tried to learn about it but there is so many different sites/books to get through and can get a little confusing. Im hoping this site helps me have a good foundation and understanding. I want to start following the Wiccan wheel of the year and lean towards more of the green witch path. Im hoping to start a herb garden and have that help me with the craft. I can’t wait to chat and learn more from everyone here!

Welcome to the forum!

All sounds pretty normal to me, I’m sure you’ll find what you need here,

if not just ask! All levels of ability and experience are here. Don’t forget

to check out the associated web site, lots of info there and more added often.

Super Saturday Mara,

Well, here are the 3 books I suggest for all newbies,

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham**a very easy read.

Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft (Affectionately called Buckland’s Big Blue) by Raymond Buckland**this is almost like a workbook, with little exercises at the end of each chapter. This book is a little more in-depth than Scotts book and explains a little about the different Wiccan “denominations” if you will.

A Witches Bible: The Complete Witches’ Handbook by Janet and Stewart Farrar** this is very ritualistic and is Gardnerian Wicca. This explains in-depth the rituals of Wicca.

Take a good look around you will find much information and many different practitioners.

I have a tarot thread, feel free to stop by Tarot Talks June 2026.

Have fun exploring!!

Welcome to our group, :people_hugging:

All good points and suggestions! One thing to keep in mind is that

Wicca =/=Witchcraft

Wicca is a religion, Witchcraft is a practice. You can be both, and more power to ya!

… but you can be a non-Wiccan witch. iJust sayin.
