To "doo-dad" or not to

Thinking Thursday,

Thought I would use a catchy title for “stuff” and “doo-dads” we use in our practice(s).

So, there is much discussion about which herb, tea, flowers, crystals to use.

I approach witchcraft with the energies of the elements. I have often asked the purpose of type of herb, or crystal and such. Yes, I understand the properties, in a like attracts like, yes, yes, yes.

I use very little items in my practice. Because the “doo-dads” tend to stray my thoughts instead of focusing them. I have my altar cloth, wand, incense, candle. My divination materials (tarot, et al) and books actually take up more space than my altar and items.
I am a word person (some of you are aware of my love for alliteration), and have had poetry intermittently published since 1978. My BOS is basically a list of chants/spells. I have it listed by subjects, such as Casting Circle, Protection, Banishing, and the like. That way, when I work on my next day’s oblation, I am able to find my spell (spoken words) for the subject I will be addressing. (Such as Friday, I will be focusing on relationships, Water, and Goddess for Water element, and my wand has Lapis Lazuli for my crystal.)
So, I looked up the different spells/chants for relationships, the moon in Virgo chant, and then my “petition” for what I wish to focus on for the day, make my close.

I focus on the chants and the elements and my energy. I have a stump in the backyard that I use for my altar every morning, take my incense, candle, water (air, fire, water, with the stump itself for earth). And then I focus on my energy with that energy and my words.

What do some of y’all do?
