The Lilith Thread

Just so you know, Lilith is my Goddess. To me, she is not at all like commonly depicted.

Oh, I don’t even call her by that name, I treat ‘Lilith’ as a ‘nickname’ I use her ‘real’ name.

Here is a very good intro video, from someone I’ve been following for quite a while:

I know the Mesopotamian demon Lilith but not the Goddess. She probably doesn’t fancy being around hunters, maybe that’s why.

Ah! Well met. I’m glad to see she’s allowed her reveal. I’ve admired your dedication to showcasing your path! I’ve been hesitant to talk about mine too much.

I’m familiar with Lilith (as most people are) and I understand that she has multiple facets and interpretations on her character and nature.

Something to keep in mind for anyone who encounters someone with a “dark” deity that might be controversial - things aren’t as black and white as you might think. There’s often a lot of misinformation that gets started by outsiders to these traditions, and often by the Church. Think on that before sending an insensitive response.

Awesome Sedim, I like her too!! Lady Gene :phoenix:

That’s actually a miss-identification by 18th century historians and translators that tied Her to

those demons because of similarity of names, probably both from the same language root.

She is most definitely NOT a demon.

Absolutely! It goes much farther back than the Church, to the early rabbis making commentaries.

Now, in modern times, it seems She is either depicted as an over sexualized succubus,

or a blood dripping vampire. Neither of which I can relate to, and actually upsets me to no end.

(But, each person relates to Her in their own way, and She does have some aspects of those)

Here is the image I prefer to have on Her altar, the famous Burney Relief:

and I just got this one in last week, can’t wait to include it:

Yes indeed! I did once dig into her history… but I confess that was so long ago that I hardly remember anything.

Lovely carvings! I especially like the first one. Nothing compares to the ancient works. They speak beyond the physical, and their mastery is incredible.

Yes, the Ancients were closer to the truth. I’m going to post a more modern variant here.

The Divine Feminine is hidden, intentionally. You would simply be shocked at the silly lies

the rabbis used to diminish and hide her, some of which are truly vile. I won’t spread those.

I know the story of Lilith, and if anyone has a question I will answer here. Not that I know all,

no one does, but I’m willing to share. As everyone knows, Lilith was the first wife of Adam,

a full partner really, created right next to him by the Divine couple, from the same Dust.

Lilith is actually a Demi-Goddess then, one made in the Divine Image by Their own work.

But still fully Human, in a form we cannot even imagine today. Above what weak echos we are.

Very nice! Lovely choice of color. She looks beautiful. :sparkles:

Oh of course, I’m well aware of the suppression of the goddess. The Abrahamic traditions are infamous for it - but far too many others chose the same course. The wonderful thing about some of the Eastern traditions I’ve been studying is that it’s clear that the divine feminine has more power in the East… much more power, in fact.

And good to know! I’m still deep in my own studies, and it’s anyone’s guess when I’ll ever be done. I have enough reading to fill my days for many years, and entire libraries to choose from.

I will note another point we have in common here - Shiva is also very unfairly type-casted by the outside world to be a “dark” god with little nuance. I feel I could do something similar to what you’re doing here for him, once I feel I know enough.

Cheers. :fire:

First Lie of the rabbis exposed. It goes something like this:

“… When Lilith saw this, she pronounced the Ineffable Name and flew away into the air.”

This, according to commentators, happened in the Garden. See the cruel lie? Claiming She

pronounced the NAME means she can be accused of ‘Taking the LORD’s NAME in vain’.

Flying away? Well, Witches do this, right? I’m surprised they didn’t specify on a broom! :broom:

Even followers of Lilith repeat this lie. Understand this: Lilith did NOT know the Ineffable Name,

NOR was she EVER in the Garden. Adam was taken there after Lilith left him. Why? Later…

Were her wings a later addition to her features? Or are they more symbolic than actual wings?

Also the question does come to mind on the most egregious of accusations against her… on her consuming children. Is there any truth to that?

Genuinely curious. Cheers. :lotus:

Good questions! A related topic, there is a lot of speculation about angel wings as some

classes of angels are described as having wings and others are not, as they appear as

normal humans, yet they are always pictured as having wings. One theory is that everything

that can fly is depicted as having wings, as to bronze age man only wings give flight, see?

Now, I have 2-3 theories about Lilith’s wings. One is that as She was accused of flying by

immoral means (which She did not do) She was given real wings as compensation ‘like for like’.

Second Theory is that the world She was taken to when Adam was taken to the Garden

required wings, so She got them then. As I am sure She is still alive (being immortal, or close?)

but NOT on Earth as that is too dangerous for Her. Third Theory is that when She travels in the

Astral Plane She has those wings (but not Her physical body, wherever She actually lives).

Now, as to the accusation, as I told Littlefield01 in this thread, She is confused with Lilu Demons.

EDIT: Also She is confused with Lamashtu same root word?

ALL FALSE allegations, but not sure if the root cause is just mistaken identity, or defamation.

One more topic related to Her appearance, that also drives me a bit crazy. (OK, crazy-er)

She is often depicted as having horns. Both in the past and in modern depictions. In fact,

the fact that the video in the OP doesn’t show horns is why I linked it. It’s that bad to me.

Demons are depicted as having horns. Heck, in some backwater areas, Jews are thought

to have horns, by antisemitism. 'Horns are Evil’™ is what the message usually is. However,

if you look at the Burney Relief, She has a Crown made of horns. Unsure of symbolism.

They don’t grow out of Her head! She doesn’t drink blood like a Vampire either! Sheesh.

I see! Very interesting… Your theories on her flight are interesting as well. It does tend to serve deities and other non-physical beings much better to remain unseen, in general I think - especially in this modern world. I think the average secularists’/atheists’ minds would explode. :joy: But obviously on the rare occasion they do shape themselves into a form that can be witnessed…

The whole 'horns=evil” thing has often baffled me, lol. I do see that - crowns of horns often makes me think a bit of cow worship, as a symbol of feminine creation? No idea if that applies in that culture though. The way they bend don’t look like bovine horns though -

Frank Friday Fellow Friends,

Is Lilith Evil? Absolutely NOT. As all women on this planet, she is misunderstood by the males of our species. Just because someone (a male) does not agree with her DOES NOT make her evil!

Well said, Lady Gene!

And nice video Sedim, that really summed it up nicely. I was aware of her story previously through reading some Gnostic texts, but as I said earlier, I’d forgotten almost all of it. Watching these videos are bringing the memories back. Very well made! I can see why you like that channel.

Cheers. :lotus:

All very good points! The most important thing for people to understand is that She

did not rebel against or reject the Creators. She rebelled against Adam. An Equal.

In fact, She is on a higher spiritual level than humans as She did not ‘fall’ or get the

curse of Eve. She was never in the Garden, so did not participate in the forbidden fruit.
