Protection & amulets

Yeah no… please don’t do that. Your retinas will be grateful.

Here’s from a book I have called Relearning to See by Thomas R. Quackenbush:

Closed-Eyelid Sunning

Recline comfortably while facing the sun. Close your eyelids and tilt your head so your eyes are tilted up towards the sun. Then swing your nose slowly to the left, then to the right. Do not sun for too long: 5 to 10 minutes is fine for most people. Do not sun for so long that you get sunburn. If at first the sun is too bright, move to a shadier spot.

Note that this is with your eyes closed. This is probably the only way you could “view” the sun without destroying your vision…

Cheers.

(Edited to fix the quotes.)

All reasonable precautions. Of course, with enough of a filter, say welding goggles etc.

there’s probably not much difference between that and closed eyes. Depends on skin too.

The biggest variable is where the sun is. At sunrise and sunset, when the suns rays are

transversing the most atmosphere, the UV might be more tolerable than when sun’s overhead.

Not that I would recommend looking at it unshielded, but it may be more tolerable, VERY briefly.

IF one insists on trying. Your eyes will warn you, unless you’ve already tried that 10 minute stare.

Also, didn’t want to come down too hard, but ‘Son … Sun’? You think the texts were English?

That would be important to consider too, yes. The book is based on the research of the ophthalmologist William H. Bates, a semi-controversial figure who was alive up to the 30s. It’s an interesting read. Seeing your reply to Millandra made me think of it!

I’m assuming this is directed to Millandra. I didn’t make the comment about the Bible text.

Cheers.

Sorry, yes I was remarking about the original post. Autism, and I’m still quite clumsy with this

forums ‘Repy’ system, I’m unfamiliar with it. Most forums you hit ‘reply’ and it quotes for you.

No worries at all man, you’re fine. I figured that’s what it was.

This forum definitely works differently. It took me a while to get used to, and it still gives me minor problems sometimes. I know for certain that there are hidden rules here to protect from bots, because I’ve gotten time-out warnings occasionally from deleting too many or making too many posts too quickly. That might be what happened to your friend!

Cheers.

Yes, I’ve seen too quickly, and I just got one, said my post was too similar. His resulted in Mute, different.
