I feel so lost and I need some advice

Hello all,

So I’ve been a witch for the majority of my life and some time around five years ago I became a Hellenist, and since then the Greek gods have brought me a lot of comfort and I felt pretty good about my practice and my beliefs. Over the last year there have been a lot of major life events that I’ve been struggling with as well as addiction. I’ve been feeling bad mentally as well and I’m not here to talk about mental stuff, I just thought some context would be helpful. anyways, recently I turned to my practice like I usually do in times like this but when I prayed for guidance and once for help with a spell, it just felt empty. I’ve always felt the presence of another being with me for as long as I’ve been religious but lately I havent felt that either. Thinking of the gods I once worshiped doesn’t bring me comfort or anything at all, I just feel alone. I think it might be related to religious trauma from when I was younger (relating to christianity) that might have resurfaced but I’m not entirely sure. I don’t feel like how I felt about the christian god about the Greek gods so I don’t think it could be related. Im not sure what to do, I think I would be fine living my life without any deities in my life or practice but it just feels odd to no longer turn to Hekate or Apollon like I used to when I felt badly.

Does anyone have any advice, whether it be personal advice or witchcraft? Does anyone have any similar experiences?

In my experience, this can happen for a few different reasons.

Sometimes there’s a shift in us, and we start to change and maybe outgrow or move in a different direction than gods we had relationships with before.

Other times, something in us is resisting our gods for one reason for another, and we may not be aware of it without some soul searching.

Thirdly, sometimes this feeling of distance/emptiness happens for seemingly no reason at all, and after soul searching and praying, all we can do is wait and trust that the “drought” will end, which it will.

I hope this helps. :pink_heart:

The Xian God is a lot closer to the Greek Gods than you think. Logos is Greek.

The Hellenization of Judea was not long before Yeshua, still in the memory of the elderly.

The entire Mediterranean was saturated with Greek culture and language, even to Egypt.

So of course there’s some commonality that might be subconsciously reminding you of Xianity.

Just something to consider. Personally I try to strip all that out of study of Yeshua, and Roman

beliefs as well. That’s why I converted to Judaism some four decades ago, but only recently

became aware of the Hidden Goddess in the origin of the religions of the Levant. So I’m Heretic.
