Hogmanay/ New Year

Merry Mistletoe all  ,

I know Hogmanay is the last day of the Scottish year (as Witches, we already had our NYE) so I think the day itself is moot. I usually keep my holiday decoration up from Dec 1 to Dec 31….this year, in honor of my new life, new year, new attitude, new, new, new…..I think I am going to start with all my “new” stuff, starting tomorrow. Taking down everything, getting rid of the old, going to the after christmas sales (which I never do) just to get deals on new clothes, new dishes, new linens…whatever….How is anyone else bringing in the New Year?? :tada:

Merry Yule and Many Blessings, Lady Gene :crystal_ball: :magic_wand: :tada:

I adore that sense of renewal around this time. Halfway out of the dark, we shake off the dust.

We bake pies and mix up some spiced wine and hand those out to our neighbours. I also try to give the birds around our house a sense of accomplishment, or encouragement. It’s not easy being a bird in the city, and I have the urge to reassure them they’ll get through the winter. We feed them loads of peanuts and special peanut butter for birds.

But regarding this sense of renewal, I do an elaborate ritual bath. It’s a candlelight bath using the herbs and flowers I grew in my garden the past year. Loads of lavender and mint this year.

As I bathe, I write down things I want to see flourish in the coming year, and this I aim to let go. When I finish the path, I burn the list of things I wish to let go, and recite the list of things I wish to see flourish.

Merry Morning Lydia,

What a nice idea. Most of our birds are gone into Mt. Charleston, out of the city. The hummingbirds hung around until late. We’ve had unusually warm weather. Have a wonderful, soothing, soak.:person_taking_bath:
