Hi I'm new here!

Hi my name is Kimberleigh. Im new here and am so happy I found a place to learn all things magic.I am a brand new baby witch. For now I am learning what kind of magic and type of witch I really resonate with. So far, I am enjoying the Wheel. I celebrated my first Imbolc and Beltane. I really loved the energy that surrounded it. I enjoy the freedom and solitude of doing my own thing and want to discover and learn all there is from rituals to spells and celebrations. I am also fascinated by faery magic and other mythical beings. But faeries and dragons are my favorite to learn about at the moment and Im thinking of wanting to work with faeries. I have been diving into withy books about types of witches, magical plants that faeries like, learning about runes, etc. I have always been drawn to faeries, dragons, anything that is magical. As you can see, I am being very ecletic and loving it for now. I am looking forward to practicing and mastering my craft and see where it takes me.

Welcome to the Forum!

Fae are great, I’m totally into the Jinn, a related type of Being from different culture/location.

There’s many different tribes of both Fae and Jinn, as you probably know. Fascinating to study!

I’m also fairly new, there’s a good mix of newbies and experienced folk to give advice here.

Welcome Kimberleigh!

When I was little I loved the Fae. Some of them are lovely! I was also obsessed with dragons. It’s been a while since I read anything on it but draconic magick seemed kinda wild though. What’s that been like?

I’ve thought about the nāga of my own tradition and they are remarkably dragon-like - they may even be their ancestors! Lots of fascinating lore.

You’re in the right spot! We love helping out here, just let us know. :trident_emblem:

(You’re too kind @Moon_Shadow! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:)

Wait, really? I don’t really know that much about Jinn. I thought there was just a few different types. I feel so ignorant! lol :trident_emblem:

Oh, I get absolutely star-struck with Jinn. OK, here’s the core two cents:

  1. They have Free Will, just like Humans.
  2. They are alive just like Humans, they are NOT ā€˜ghosts’ they just live in a different Plane.
  3. They have therefore both ā€˜good’ Jinn communities and ā€˜evil’ ones. Evil=Shaytans.
  4. They have different tribes based on Color of the King of the tribe.
  5. They have different races and each one prefers a different default ā€˜Form’
  6. They can have different interactions with Humans, some are positive and some negative.
  7. Just like The Fae the best course is Respect and Politeness. Appearance does not matter.

Sensational Sunday Kimberleigh,

Welcome to our pack :wolf:!
I would like to suggest 3 books.

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham–this is a very easy read and will get you started just fine.

Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft (Affectionately referred to as ā€œBuckland’s Big Blueā€) by Raymond Buckland.–this is a little more in-depth and offers ā€œhomeworkā€ at the end of each chapter, he also explains a little about the different Wiccan ā€œdenominationsā€

A Witches Bible: The Complete Witches’ Handbook by Janet and Stewart Farrar–this one goes very in-depth with rituals. It is actually 2 books they had written combined into one edition. This one has photographs also. This book has good in-sight on the Sabbats and Wheel of the Year. This practice in Garderian.

I hope this helps to get you started.:upside_down_face:

Hmm! Interesting…

I was initially thinking they didn’t have an equivalent in the Buddhist cosmology, but after reading that list now I’m thinking that assumption is wrong. Adding them to the list! :trident_emblem:

IDK about that, but they are indeed in Japan’s Shinto beliefs, by a different name of course.

Really now? What are they called in Shinto? :writing_hand:t2:

Kami is one of them I just LOVE Japanese Culture.

Kami is such a broad term though! I immediately think of gods when I hear that word. I forget that it can be applied to other beings as well.

You love Japanese culture you say? :sparkling_heart: Oh boy… (Would love to keep going, but I don’t want to derail this topic even more, lol!)

Merry Meet

I may have missed it in the comments, but I’ll say it anyway, there are many excellent resources on the main site page, especially geared toward newer pagans/witches. Brightest Blessings!
