This isn’t what I envisioned when I started this piece. Nothing about it is what I would usually paint. I love cool colors and tend to use them in 80% of my work. Most of what I paint is ocean life and Florida wildlife. Purple is my favorite color and the color in my bedroom, where I wanted this to hang above my bed. I tried painting this several times and hated it every time. I originally was going to do a long dark branch and purple flowers flowing across the board, but it never felt right. Then I found this color pallet, and I swear it was like a lightbulb moment. I knew I had to use these colors, and it had to be feathers. I later looked up the association with feathers, and they have to do with spiritual guidance, protection, transformation, balance and intuition. All at the same time when I started questioning a lot in my life. Very interesting.
Anyone else have moments like that and want to share the piece that it led to?
I just do what I like and sometimes it turns out.
