I remember you mentioning that. SSRIs are incredibly powerful. I’m glad you survived!
I could start reducing my medication, but I’m still anxious even though I have the green-light from my doctor. He knows I’ve made great strides with lifestyle changes, therapies, etc. It all just boils down to me to start. No pressure right?
The last show I saw that had a depiction of Lilith in it was Supernatural. Definitely NOT a positive depiction . I don’t know if you’ve seen that show or not. It’s pretty old now.
She was basically depicted as the first demon and was somehow either born from or created by Lucifer and was designated as the Queen of Hell after Lucifer got locked away after the fall. She loved him though and actively fought to get him released. But they went all-in on the Lilitu demon thing. I loved that show but since you’ve enlightened me a bit on Lilith I realized how bad that depiction was.
Interestingly the creator of that show was Jewish.
I see that what you’re trying to do is distinctly different, and I don’t see that as bad or naive at all.
You’re taking it from a reconstructionist approach - and when every sign from the oldest true evidence on her shows her not as a demon but rather a fertility or healing goddess, etc. then there is nothing wrong in that. I personally have really enjoyed seeing this new perspective on her here.
IMO it shows that you care more about “getting it right” over what’s “popular.” Call me a hipster but I’ve always thought that what was popular was too shallow lol. I’ve always taken the same approach. If what other people are learning is the result of religious or hollywood propaganda, are they really in contact with the true Lilith?
There are things I wish I could tell you, but even if I did, you wouldn’t believe me. So I will just say this. Deities have so many facets. The fact that you choose to focus only on her good side while dismissing every other aspect of her says more about you than about her reality.
If you truly devote to someone, whether human or nonhuman, you do not only love the parts that are easy to accept. You acknowledge every part of them, the whole being. You cannot claim to love or devote to someone while selectively embracing only some parts and rejecting the rest.
I know you hold the things I say in high regard, but not if I speak about Lilith’s other aspects.
That is exactly the point I was trying to make earlier. Deities are whole beings with many facets, and they are perfect as they are. They are not meant to be reduced only to the parts we personally find comforting, beautiful, or agreeable.
When you choose to see only Lilith’s “good” side and label other parts of her as “bad,” you are not seeing her in her fullness. That turns her into something imperfect in your eyes. Lilith is not incomplete because she has other aspects you struggle to accept.
my son has seen most of them, we’re on season 5 or 6, and this is where he stopped watching. For me, it’s all new, with my coma and outta touch for a decade, I didn’t even know about it. (So much of the last decade I don’t know, shows, celebs, deaths, marriages, world events…it’s like being a child all over again, in some aspects.)
I think that’s an important distinction there. You are aware that she even has a light side whereas most people apparently don’t.
Also I just realized I forgot a critical piece of media I’ve seen Lilith in recently - the same anime I met my deities in! She’s portrayed rather positively in that anime though you don’t get much backstory on her as she’s a side character. She’s introduced as a goddess. She falls in love with one of the primary characters but again has the backstory of being very loyal and Lucifer’s partner. Interesting repeating pattern there. Not really too Lilitu demon about this depiction aside from some design choices.
I was rewatching an episode of it last night and I was like wait a minute! lol
