Questions about Wheel of the year

Hello :waving_hand: :hugs:,

Just wondered….what is everyone doing for mabon?

Also, have any mabon altar pictures to share? This could get interesting!!!

Hola!!

This is the first year I have been trying to incorporate the wheel of the year changes into the decor of my home and kitchen witchery. I don’t want to only adorn my altar. I am decorating my dining table with colors of the season and the fireplace mantle. I will take pics and share once I have transitioned from Lughnasadh. I made a plan to start decorating for the new season three weeks before the holiday and make slow changes over time. Kinda cool how the intersecting holidays can have some overlap.

I love to craft and made my first corn dolly, actually for Lughnasadh and it can carry over into Mabon. I love how the hair curled up as it dried, like she was being windswept. I also made a wreath with early fall colors.

I am a solitary practitioner and am still working on my Mabon plans. I am researching recipes for my meal. I practiced making bourbon apples…YUMMY…I want to make them again for Mabon and use cinnamon whiskey this time. If they have lifted the burn ban by then, I plan to have a bonfire. This is just for starters.

Tried to add pics but got an error message. Got it figured out. I was too new on the site to be able to do so…

Have you any specific plans for Mabon?

I will be working. I’m disappointed over it because Mabon eve is a solar eclipse so it’s extra magickal for me! I hope everyone has a great time, though! :slightly_smiling_face:

I can understand how work can get in the way of our celebrating on the wheel of the Year holidays. I was in the Navy for 20 years, and I had three children. Due to military obligations, we often had to celebrate birthdays and holidays on days other than the actual day. What was important to me was simply the act of celebration. The exact day was not as important as the recognition of the holiday. I look at celebrating the wheel of the year kind of similarly. Granted, I am no longer in the Navy and am in charge of my own schedule. I like to begin decorating, crafting and cooking three weeks before the Sabbat/Esbat…and for three weeks after…then start to transition into the next one. Why only celebrate on one day? I prefer to celebrate the season.

Bruja, I love you style and your corn dolly’s curly hair!

I too begin “switching seasons” about 3 weeks after/before a sabbat. Right now, about half-way between Lughnasa and Mabon I’m switching from corn to grapes almost without realizing it. Incense blends are more myrrh heavy than earlier in summer and the weakening of the sun is more noticeable every day. Marking a day is nice, and we do, but celebrating a whole season…woot!

Unfortunately not, Unfortunately not, here in Portugal certain things are hard to find and the prejudice is worse. If I were to do that, my family would criticize me. But little by little I’ll try to do a little something.
