Hey everyone, hopefully soon me and my family will be able to move back into our home after a house fire (we almost completely rebuilt). Should I cleanse if my room is completely new? If so what are some methods you recommend that won’t be very obvious to my Christian parents church friends that may help us move?
Fantastic Friday Kyd,
Great, your home again!! Yes, you should do a cleanse/blessing of your room. You are worried about being “seen”, or “outed”, while you move. If possible, enter your room, and say a blessing for the room. Later, when everything is moved, and you are alone in your room, then you will be able to smudge, or use incense or candles to consecrate your room. If this is still too “noticeable” for those around you, remember Magick is about INTENT. So, if things need to be “on down low”, at the least, sit comfortable (meditation?), if no “goodies” are available to use; just sit, clear your mind, and “talk” to your room, the cosmos, the goddess, who/what you feel you need to do. End your “talk” with a thanks for the elements/deityies for taking the time to listen to you. If that does not feel enough, do it daily for maybe a week. As always in Magick, there is no right nor wrong, it is about INTENT. Do not worry about “turning around 8 times” or lighting a “purple candle while hopping on one leg”….it is not what you DO, but your will and intent on it happening.
I hope this helps you out, and congratulations on the renewed digs!!!

Thank you so much for your advice! I kind of knew I needed to cleanse since you know it’s a new space, but I wanted to ask to make sure it was actually necessary and not just like a precaution because I tend to get a little cleanse, happy sometimes. ![]()
I also perform a Shinto ritual when moving house. I sprinkle salt over my self to ward of evil spirits/energy.
This stops something unwanted following you in.
Thank you so much for the advice, it means a lot! Also what is a Shinto ritual I’ve never heard of that before?
Shinto is the Japanese national religion, along side buddhism.
Shinto is very much like wicca in many regards if you take the witchcraft side of it away.
To over simplise it, Shinto is about nature and life.
