Least Favorite shows about Paganism/Witchcraft

Well, we’ve had a thread ‘What Are Your Favorite Shows About Witches?’ so this is opposite.

What we would warn each other NOT to watch, unless we want to get upset for nothing.

My contribution to this list of shame is Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters from 2013. Upsetting!

oms, i was about to watch that last year, but then mt pc died and i forgot about it

what was so upsetting? i only got to 10 minuets in

Well, it’s climax is a long scene with Witches being slaughtered by gattling gun, I almost threw up.

The ‘hero’, has been slaughtering Witches without even checking if they’re good/bad/white/black.

I can’t watch war movies anymore, or anything with realistic violence. Star Wars/Sci-Fi is OK tho.

I didn’t care for The Magicians, Salem or Homeland: Fort Salem. These each have main characters that are cursing or casting spells that kill people.

I have enough problems in the last year with people accusing us of cursing them.

One guy actually threatened to kill us and we had to get a restraining order.

That’s why I stay in the ‘broom closet’ with my neighbors. It’s a 55+ community, ‘gossip central’.

That’s horrible! Amazing how backwards people can still be… it’s 2026 for gods’ sake.

My blessing is that I look pretty ordinary in terms of how I dress, but I also don’t hide my stones and amulets. I’m careful what I say to people though so you could say I’m 50% in the closet. Sometimes people who notice them are delighted, sometimes people stare. No-one’s ever confronted me though.

Cheers. :trident_emblem:

During Covid, we had to come out to work because we had to get a religious deferment from mandatory vaccinations. Kitchens are huge gossip centers so everyone just had to know why we got a deferment. They were mainly wondering about my husband. I have medical issues that got me one but my husband is healthy so eventually they found out plus we have had to ask them to not refer to male witches as warlocks as it’s an insult and my husband complained.

I don’t like any of them that portray witches as hideous evil creatures. Except hocus pocus. But even they had redeeming qualities.

Hollywood sure does like it’s stereotypes eh?

Welcome to the Forum, BTW.

Welcome,

That’s true, those old school portrayals were very unappealing.

I really disliked the portrayal of the seer in the show Vikings. For a show started on the History channel, there sure were a ton of historical inaccuracies in it. Everything about his design was wrong.

Same in the Northman (though other aspects of that movie were good). For some unknown reason the norse/germanic healers and seers are hard for Hollywood to get right. The descriptions of them were very simple and clear. Makes no sense. lol

Cheers.
