Just kinda new and need some opinions

hear me out on this

when i was like 5-8 i always mumbled words, and now that i remember it it was always random stuff or the DAM Wicca holiday names, like Ostara and Imboloc. and at the time i didn’t even know paganism existed or anything about it. cuz i vividly remember me (7 years old) just existing in my room and the word Ostara just popped in my head when i was playin’ with my cat.

what the frekin stars does this mean.

Thankful Thursday Ivy,

Sounds to me, that you intuitively knew some things. Most of us have had those experiences. I say, congratulations  , you have come to the right place. Have you started any study? Are you familiar with Tarot? If you do not have any books. I would strongly suggest–

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner, by Scott Cunningham. Very easy read and not too long, simple basics, and like the title said, for an individual practitioner, but is easily adaptable to more than one person.

A little more indepth, with easy exercises, but still an easy read, would big “Buckland’s Big Blue”. It’s really Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland.

This one, like the title says, by many this is considered, A Witches’ Bible: The Complete Witches’ Handbook by Janet and Stewart Farrar. This book is more specific, but is a great reference to keep around. This book is very ritualistic and is Gardnerian based.

Don’t worry what “Gardnerian based” means. As you go along, you’ll find out. Don’t want to overwhelm you. However, I always suggest these 3 to start you on your way, and give you an idea of what kind of practice resonates with you.

Hope this helps you out. Lady Gene :turtle:

thanks much for those book ideas to read :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: i think i will check amazon for those!

and the anwers to your questions: no i havent quite had any in depth study, but i skim pagan/wicca traditions and other stuff. I think tarot is a kind of fortune telling card game? not quite familiar with it. I think i will try to learn though!

-Have a blessed day!

Fabulous Friday Ivy,

I am glad that you are interested in these books. I bought mine online, through Amazon, Etsy, or Llewellyn bookseller. Tarot is not a game (although it originated that way). It is fortune-telling in the sense that you “read” the meanings of the cards. If you are not familiar with Tarot, I would suggest starting with Lenormand cards. Much the same idea, awakening your unconscious with symbolism of the cards. Lenormand, I find, is more direct and simpler to understand. I would suggest Lenormand first, BEFORE attempting Tarot. Lenormand is about what your mind “sees”, it seems to me to be an appropriate introduction to card reading and I find it is a great cornerstone to begin cartomancy (card reading/divination). There are tutorials for tarot on the internet.

Welcome to our group and enjoy yourself!!! Lady Gene :turtle:
