Hi and Happy New Year! I need help. I’m a solo witch in western Idaho, no coven. No friends/family who practice. My daughter, she’s four, is also very sensitive to the arts, energies, and elements. Recently she says she’s started to hear a girl singing to her at night from the trees. She says the voice hasn’t asked her to do anything bad, but that the voice is upset about a forest. A couple years ago I had to cut a tree down that had begun to ooze black and the grass in a perfect circle around this tree had died. It’s very likely unrelated, but I included it in the event that it is not.
You have every right to be concerned. Is your daughter scared, anxious, or uneasy in any way? If not, I would try to make it a friend. Maybe it is a Fae and is upset about the tree, in which case, you will need to appease her/him. I do not know how to do that, appease. Hopefully someone will be able to help you. Until you fully understand what is happening, at the very least, do a protection spell around your daughter specifically, and also for your home.

how old was your daughter when you cut down that tree? I would do research into the property to see if there has been any deaths in that area. and some historical investigating too. You could in addition make some protection spell jars.
She was three, and we experienced some poltergeist activity during that time as well. I haven’t seen any deaths in our neighborhood since development (it was built in the late 90s), but I have no idea what the land was prior to development. I’ve got some jars prepped to put around the house and I’m going through my book to decide which protection spell I’d like to use for my daughter. I’m honestly hoping it’s Fae, because being able to appease them is a lot less scary than the other possibilities.
She says it wakes her up but doesn’t scare her. Knowing the voice hasn’t asked her to do anything “bad” or dangerous eases my mind and heart because it does rule out a lot of the malicious spirits and Fae that exist.
Your daughter is safe. But do you live near a forest? If that’s the case, it might be worth reaching out to local urban forestry or conservation organizations to see whether they can help with replanting or restoring the land in that area.
If this is still an issue, I also suggest looking into unsolved missing child cases in your state. Ask your daughter what the girl looks like, if she’s ever gotten a glimpse or seen her in dreams, and have her join you on any library trips or when looking at photos online.
If you have no luck with any of that, then I would turn to divination or a seer to get more detail on your situation.
I have plenty of experience in dealing with the dead, but with fae not so much. I do know a little though, and I have some old books that may provide some insight if needed.
Protection around the house and those within it is never a bad thing. And I agree some history digging would be prudent if you can find anything that would be related to the land. You could always appease the spirit, but even an apology at the sight of the cut down tree, and a small offering might be enough. You could also plant a new tree and ask the spirit to help it grow and thrive. Let it know the boundaries and what you accept as positive communication versus uneasy communication.
Cleanse, make peace, and move on. If it still causes unease, up the protection, and possible banishment if necessary.
