I’m honestly not sure where to begin with this so this’ll be off the cuff for me. So, my mom is a very understanding person. She knows I practice witchcraft and have been blessed with the 6th sense. However, a family friend that is, unfortunately, staying over doesn’t understand both witchcraft and Paganism. I explained to here that it involves me working with multiple gods, only for the friend to dismiss it as “they’re just spirits.” 
. Technically she’s right but to dismiss the gods as just spirits seems petty. Then there’s the witchcraft angle. I will use incense sticks for my rituals, only for her to bitch about the smell. Mind you, I leave my incense sticks next to the window to welcome in friendly spirits to help out with my rituals. So my question is: how do I explain I’m a witch with the 6th sense to someone that can only comprehend her Christian teachings?
IDK, but I do know that my cheap incense sticks DO stink. I need better incense.
Xians who are not exposed to other spirituality, IDK if anything is possible.
Depends on the person, and how open they are to other concepts. Some Xians are, some not.

I’m in the broom closet (I believe that’s the term). I can’t explain away stuff like tarot or idol figurines, and I don’t do incense due to artificial being the only stuff I can get and artificial smells giving me a headache. But everything else I’ve found can be “explained away” to those who don’t respect our beliefs as either meditiation and visualization, or as the placebo effect / a self fufilling prophecy. Those who don’t believe in the power of magick will still respect “I do this because I believe it works, so I act like it works and it actually works”.

Yes, the cheap incense is horrid. I currently burn like five minutes worth on the altar, and ONLY
because I have a window with a fan in it right there. When the air conditioning is finally on,
I can tell I won’t be able to at all. Need some ‘good stuff’ or make it myself somehow.
Actually, there’s a lot of gray there. An Idol is very specific in definition. Most of what
people think of as idols are simply decoration, even if on an altar. THIS is NOT an idol:
Even if it’s on an altar. Because? It won’t throw an accurate, lifelike shadow. It’s almost 2D.
As I said, very particular rules make something an Idol. Most people don’t have actual idols.

A Tough Situation Indeed!!
Without being confrontational, might you be able to explain how that is not much different than the “spirit in the sky” (Norman Greenbaum 1970), God, Allah, Jesus…(can’t think of other faiths at the moment, brain fart 
) that other faiths pray to. You can liken the incense to what other religions use…ah, incense, for the same reasons you do. So, if this person is tolerant to Western religions, there should not be an issue with yours. Unfortunately, TACT is my weakest suit. I’m just blunt and to the point, so I cannot suggest how to say it, that is up to you, but this is my suggested path.

You girls need to grow some mugwort in a large pot, cuz it gets huge, and then transplant outside in good weather once the nights are no longer freezing. I have mine and it keeps coming back each year. It smells almost perfectly like sweet grass and I love it. So if you don’t have allergies its perfect. You can also make wands out of the strong stems as they are very woody once fully grown high. They can reach over 6ft tall. lol the heirloom variety is best since its not been hybridized. Or just grow sage in a pot. Broadleaf sage works and comes back each year for a few years but then you have to replant if you have a harsh winter it may die in. Cheers!
I tried mugwort (I live in Florida, trust me freezing is not an issue) and it was gone the next day. I think a rabbit ate it- we have several living in our yard. I might try again with a pot inside though!

That’s the ‘official’ Islamic definition. I like it. That’s the old definition, now
they are much more strict but back ‘in the day’ they had art. Jewish definition
is if outside and getting rained on or birds poop on it, it’s probably decoration.
How indoor statues get decided on is trickier, basically any religious one is
considered an idol. My owl statues (for Lilith) would not be, usually.
