I’ve enjoyed learning about nature and reality for as long as I can remember. I also have numerous recollections of hearing my grandparents and other family members talking about what would be considered paranormal experiences. Apparently, these were quite common in my family. Over the years, I’ve also had a considerable number of encounters with beings from non-physical realms (especially through hauntings) as well as what are called psychic experiences. These events have created an interest in witchcraft as a potential path for understanding these things, as well as a possible method for managing their occurrences. I’m looking forward to meeting and perhaps getting to know others here who share similar interests and experiences.
The paranormal is indeed a fascinating subject, although I believe the term is somewhat misleading. In my view, what’s called “paranormal” represents a perfectly normal aspect of reality, albeit one that most people who consider themselves serious are loath to accept, much less devote time and energy to try to understand. It seems that the majority like to think that they know everything that matters, and when something is reported that challenges that notion, they dismiss it as either deliberate falsification or innocent misperception.
Given the way most people react to reports of anomalous phenomena, I’m extremely hesitant to speak or write about things I’ve experienced. The worst part of it all is that I have no way to prove that these things actually happened. These events are not reproducible on demand, like the things studied by conventional science, which seems to be the main source of the trouble around other people’s acceptance of the reports.
Having said that, here is one brief example of something weird that I experienced:
While out walking one day, I came upon a padlock lying in the street next to the sidewalk. It was a nice brass lock in nearly new condition, but it was locked and, naturally, there was no key. I decided to take it home with the intention of someday going to a locksmith to have it opened and a key made. I tossed the lock into a can that had other padlocks and keys in it and forgot about it until those instances when I needed one of the locks in the can. Each time I accessed the can, there was my new lock lying on top where I’d placed it and still locked tight. (I would pick it up and pull on the shackle each time just to be certain it was securely locked.) And again I would remind myself to take the lock to a locksmith. About three years went by in this manner until one day, when I picked up the can to retrieve a lock. There, on top as usual, was my found padlock. Only this time it was unlocked with the shackle open. What a surprise! Moreso, since no one else had access to the can of locks or even knew the story of this particular one. By the way, the house we lived in at the time was seriously haunted, so I wonder if that had anything to do with what happened? I still have the lock and still haven’t made it to a locksmith to get a key made. But at least I won’t have to pay to have the lock opened…LOL.
Anyway, that’s enough of my weirdo stuff for now. Have you had any unusual experiences? And is there a part of the paranormal that interests you the most?
Hiiiii, and i understand And if you feel comfortable, tell me whatever you think is necessary.
In my case, I’ve never had any traditional “paranormal experiences” that I can recall. However, I’ve seen a figure or two in my house when I was younger (so I’m not sure if I actually saw it or not). But, my house has a strange energy and sometimes I felt and feel presences.
I don’t know if your house was already haunted before they brought the padlock, but it seems strange to me that the padlock is “lost”, locked without a key and with nothing attached, it seems to me that it could be A cursed object, I’ve heard stories of people who found beautiful things on the ground (street, bus, etc.) and when they kept them they suffered from it. So if your house was already haunted and the The fact that the padlock was already closed, a poltergeist (spirit) could have actually opened it and the padlock, despite its energy, the spirits were superior. If not, if only after the padlock, well The padlock might have brought something. But tell me what you think.
I should have mentioned that the house was already haunted when we moved in, which was a few years before I found the padlock. So, perhaps the poltergeist was the agent responsible for unlocking it? I know it was a pretty energetic spirit. We had a child’s wooden rocking chair in the living room that had been in my family for over 100 years. One day, in an apparent fit of rage, whatever was haunting the house levitated the chair into the air, turned it upside down, and then slammed it onto the wooden floor with such force that it made a bang like a gunshot. My wife, daughter, and I were all there and saw it happen.
Since then we’ve moved and, although I still have the padlock, there’s been no further weird activity, so I don’t think the lock is haunted. But, like you said, I too have heard and read of instances in which someone acquired an object and brought it home, only to have all sorts of disturbing things happen. So, that is certainly a possibility and it pays to be wary of the things one picks up.
Anyway, I hope you have a good week (and a Merry Samhain)!
Hiiiii, So the house was indeed responsible. And by the gods, that spirit was powerful enough to do that from the chair. I’m glad you and your family are safe now.
Reading your conversation reminds me of many instances in my life that definitely qualify as paranormal. One thing that happened some years ago and remains fresh in my memory is when a chef’s knife I was using disappeared. I was living on an island in the Inside Passage in Alaska and right next to the house was a densely overgrown gully from runoff from the mountain through the massive Sitka Spruce. It was favored by faerie-folk, and I often spent time with them. One day I was preparing dinner and using a 11-inch chef’s knife. I laid the knife down and when I reached for it, it was gone. I searched the entire kitchen (several times) but never found the knife. I am convinced the faeries took it. Brightest Blessings!
Hiii Marcus, Holy Artemis I know they’re naughty, but it’s scary that they stole that object. At least they didn’t hurt you, which is a good thing. Do you have any more stories about your time in Alaska?
Your report about the knife that disappeared brings to mind the response, “I hate it when that happens!” In the house where we lived, a few small items would sometimes disappear, but they would later reappear in places where no one would ever put them. For example, I had three small two-way radios in a cabinet in our bedroom. One day, I noticed that one was missing. I asked my wife if she’d moved it, and she said she had not. Quite some time later, I picked up a metal lunch box from a shelf in a different part of the house and heard something clunk inside. When I opened the box, the radio was there. I’m sorry that you lost your chef’s knife to those beings. I’ve never had any experience with faerie-folk, and I wonder if they took it because they needed it or just to be mischievous?
Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. You’ve made me curious to learn about the faerie-folk.
