Hello everyone! Me and my mommy are currently practicing witchcraft I really want to know more about the pagan gods! I also would love help with knowing about what books to read. I’m really in with glamour magic and just beauty magic I also I’m a high school student so I would love to have an academic deity I could just devote to and study with

Well, here are the 3 books I suggest for all newbies,
Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham**a very easy read.
Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft (Affectionately called Buckland’s Big Blue) by Raymond Buckland**this is almost like a workbook, with little exercises at the end of each chapter. This book is a little more in-depth than Scotts book and explains a little about the different Wiccan “denominations” if you will.
A Witches Bible: The Complete Witches’ Handbook by Janet and Stewart Farrar** this is very ritualistic and is Gardnerian Wicca. This explains in-depth the rituals of Wicca.
There are so many deities for beauty, the usual, Aphrodite of Greece and Venus of Rome, Hathor of Egypt. But, there are many associated with whatever culture calls to you, or in your background. If you want to PM me, we can explore different deities in detail.
Since you are in high-school and are interested in beauty magic might I offer the following ideas, easy to start.
Sun and Moon water. (also, I can explain in a PM)
When you put on make-up, bless the deities to allow your eyes to see only the good, your lips to speak only the truth, your mind (as you brush your hair) to think only what is in the best interest of all…so on and so forth. As you drink your morning tea, coffee, as you stir it, chant your intent for the day to yourself. So many different ways to incorporate magick in all aspects of your life.
Take time to find these books, they will answer many questions and steer you in a direction that speaks to you.

As always, Lady Gene’s book recommendations are fantastic. There’s also many other paths if you aren’t interested in Wicca (I’m not either). Beauty magic- agreed, Aphrodite, Venus, Hathor are the deities to go to. If you’re looking for academic deities, try reaching out to Athena (Greek) or Thoth (Egyptian).
Everyone here is very kind and helpful, so don’t hesitate to post in Ask the Community if you have any questions! I’d also recommend making an introduction post in Introductions if you haven’t already.

I started into witchcraft at 15 and my first book was the Wicca Spellbook. I still use it. I would also agree with the ones posted above - great suggestions by the community as per usual. A book of correspondences can also be useful for rituals or focus.
Academic deities… for some reason the first one I thought of was Athena. Thoth is also great and super connected to magic.

hiiii! im under 18 too and also a highschool student. welcome to the forum! may the stars guide you on your journey of paganism. i dont know much about the gods and godesses due to my practices being more centered on the natural world, but maybe someone in my pagan group chat will know. the chat is on this website too ive been looking for some new thoughts in the chat, so if you would like to be added to it ill go right ahead and make you a member!

That’s cool that you’re getting into it together with your mother! I don’t hear that very often. All good recommendations here so far!
As a god I’m surprised no-one has mentioned Apollo. There’s also Lugh. Both are associated with mastery of all the arts and knowledge and learning in general. Apollo is greek. Lugh is Welsh/Celtic.
(I will also add that Aphrodite and Freyja are the most popular goddesses of feminine beauty, and Apollo and Baldur are gods of masculine beauty, if you want to look into deities of that category.)
Any good search on deities of learning will send you in the right direction. Follow where your intuition guides you on which god you “vibe” with most. That link sends you to an extensive list on Wikipedia.
