Hi all! I’m new to the forum and I realize this could be in the intro section, but I had a thought I wanted to put out for a larger discussion:
First, hi! My name is Roxara and I am a budding crystal witch living in the Puget Sound area. I’m all about working with energy. I’m not so much into deity work as of yet, but I’m a big fan of the Hermetic Principles. I’m just starting on my journey as a witch, so I have lots of room for growth!
My biggest problem right now is that my home seems to go through these periods of high energy where my cats and I have digestive problems, sleep disruptions, and mania. I’ve really struggled to ground and connect with the land. I started doing regular smudging and using a bell to clear up the errant energy and deployed some crystals like obsidian obelisks around the house. It works…for a while, and then it ramps up again. A local witch suggested that some of the problem may be that I’m surrounded by water (a creek and a lake, in addition to whatever is running underground) plus the relatively active geology in the area (the Sound has some moderate seismic activity). I’m sure it’s a piece of the bigger picture for sure.
That said, with the recent minor geomagnetic storm we had over the Puget Sound the past couple of days, and thinking over the solar activity in the past year, I’ve noted how the energy in my house seems to go haywire during these solar events—even if we can’t see the Northern Lights. With the storm from last night, I noted seeing faint light and energy trails in my bedroom when I turned the lights out. I could also see the essence of my cats’ spirits clear as day. It’s also worth noting the Puget Sound is near an “atmospheric trough” where the ionosphere is less dense, thus exposing the area to slightly more solar radiation during these events (that’s my understanding anyway). I’m sure that when you combine this solar activity with the surrounding topography/geology, it’s a recipe for chaotic energy. I thought that the day preceding the last Blood Moon was particularly brutal this year because of its nature as an eclipse, but it turns out that there was also a geomagnetic storm that day too!
Anyhow, as I was laying in bed watching these lights and feeling a bit helpless (cause I can’t sleep), I started thinking to myself: is there a way to harness all this energy? So, my question is: does anyone have experience or thoughts on working with solar energy like this? I would love to get a handle on the out-of-control energy in my environment during times like this.

Like I said, I’m all about directing energy, and this seems like a really raw form that managing might be the key to bringing some much-needed balance to my environment. Smudging, bell ringing, etc. has worked until we hit these episodes. I welcome any thoughts or advice. Thanks in advance!
