Does anyone grow their own herbs?

Does anyone grow their own herbs? I plan on growing some of my own in the spring as well as some vegetables. Going to do my research first because I’ve never grown herbs but I have grown my own aloe. I was just curious if anyone else did because I keep hearing how some are harder to find than others and how some are being overly used to the point of nearly being whipped out.

Also, it’s been so wonderful being part of this forum. I have already learned so much and I plan on learning even more from everyone. You all have been so kind and helpful.

Many blessings lovelies,

Jessemy

Absolutely. I feel at a loss if I can’t have my own garden.

A key thing is to understand growing conditions for each plant:

do they need full sun, partial sun/shade or full shade?

Do they like well drained soil, or wetter soil?

Will they grow in pots or prefer more space?

Will they mix with other plants in a pot or garden bed?

How big will they grow? - important if space is limited.

Do you want indoor or outdoor plants? Check to see if what you want to grow can be grown either way.

For me things like rosemary, lavender and oregano are very easy to grow. Basil and sage need a bit more care than I generally have time for, but hope to change that in the near future.

Oh, and pest control is important. Keeping a net over your plants is a healthier way to protect your plants if needed.

Be prepared to learn through failure as much as success when growing plants. Don’t be put of if you can’t keep something alive - learn what went wrong, or what worked well and try again.

I do plan to make a journal of this information for each plant I want to grow. This way I can have everything in a book and add to it as needed for what works and what doesn’t work. I’ll be sure to research all of this for each plant.

Thank you again :black_heart:
