Sensational Saturday Super Sorcerers,

Me again, ranting away…well, been a highly emotional charged week. Talked to the doctor last week about husband (we have the same doctor) and he IS a geriatric specialist too (I did not know that). When I first tried telling him about my husband, he was treating me like a disgruntled wife. I was like, no, this is not his usual behaviour. Ex. If I came into a room and started throwing stuff, that’s me…not him, he’s a Winnie-the-Pooh guy…he is acting totally out-of-character. Anyway, doctor finally realized what I was saying and is bringing my husband in for an earlier check-up. In talking to the MA (medical assistant) about it, she stated that what I said my husband was doing is the EXACT same thing she went through when her father-in-law was diagnosed with dementia. So, when I left the doctor office, I went to the library and checked out books about dementia. Long story, short…out of 10 “signs’” he is heavy with 7 and iffy on 2. So, yeah, this looks like “the ticket”. I spoke with the “guys” here in the house about how to deal with husband. The grandson and nephew think I am exagerrating, however, son (age 30) and I have been discussing this for the last couple years, and this last 2 weeks it has gotten so out of control that we decided that I had to speak to the doctor. WE know more about our husband/dad than the 2 other guys know their uncle/grandfather. With this understanding, I now have a different way to look at his behaviour and therefore a different response. Wow, that took forever to get out.

Anywhooooo, husband will be back on Monday, so I will have to deal with whatever his “attitude” brings back. Hopefully, his trip to see his daughter and sister in Mexico will have had a calming effect on him!!

So, I will be checking in here and there, but I do not think it is prudent for me to be as “involved” as I really wish to be. My mind needs to focus on this home situation, instead of running from it. I originally thought my husband was just being an :donkey: :donkey: so I was spending more time on here, to “escape” from him; now, it looks as though I need to be more diligent, because he’s not being an :donkey:he is instead a man scared about losing his senses (literally). So, I need to spend some time working on the situation here.

Thank-you all for your thoughts and consideratons :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I will be checking in as possible. Hopefully, I will be able to return “full-force” sometime this summer!!

Understand completely. I fear dementia, especially as I now live alone,

how would I even know? I should go get a base-line assessment made,

never have. My Autism is already too much like dementia in it’s effects.

Feel free to come & vent if you want, we’re all here for you. Sedim

Happy Saturday sisters! Do we have any menfolk here? I hadn’t noticed as of this writing.

Something someone said about altered mental states triggered my own memories of them and how things are very cyclic indeed. I’ve been going through all the garbage in my head to eliminate the stuff that isn’t really mine and boy has it been crazy. The past 2 years has altered me a lot but also for the win, did clear out the bad and let me keep myself intact without all others trappings and nonsense. Especially religious stuff. That is another story, however.
I’m writing for National Poetry Month and playing catch up the last 3 days has also been a tad cray cray. lol
Be Blessed.

Yup, there certainly is. I’m a Shaman, that’s the label for the male form of Hedge Witch.

But, I do identify as a Witch and Pagan, but mostly I’m such for the Divine Feminine.

Many (but not all) religions simply ignore or hide the Divine Feminine and I am on a search

for understanding and alignment with Her. I had an article about my Patron Saint Lilith

ready to go, but then the computer did it’s usual weekly CRASH. It just locks up, and

I then have a lot of ‘spells’ to cast to try to make it work again… for a week or so…

Good to see you back! 100% understand. What a handful of a situation to be in! Wish you all the best luck when he’s back. Yes, hopefully he will be agreeable on the visit with the doc. As I have no family around except for my mother, I worry about having to deal with something like that with her on my own. With her reaching her mid 70s those chances are rising too.

Feel free to come and go as you need! We’ll “hold down the fort” for you.

Cheers.

That was my post you saw, lol.

Yes, when you’re working a more shamanic/hedge-witch path you work a lot in altered mental states. In my current practice I’d say about 50% of my daily routine is in either an altered state or literally in another plane. “Bardo-walking, Hedge-Walking, Axis-Walking” are all terms that could apply here. (Especially the 1st one in my case.)

Things can get risky fast though if you don’t consciously keep your head on straight in the process. The only reason I can say I’m good at it comes from many years of practice and long years of study to know what to expect before I fully dove into it. There are some who have genuinely lost their mind from doing that kind of work. I don’t recommend it for beginners lol.

Cheers. :eye:

Magickal Monday Wren,

Thank-you for your understanding. I think my husband is so fearful, because he has always been extremely active…biking up to 30 miles a day…at least 3 days a week…workout…he has a home gym…'nuf said. He will be 71 this year. He constantly misplaces things, does not remember what has been said, cannot drive correctly anymore…I think he is becoming aware of his limitations now, and it scares him to death. So, I need to realize that he is not being an :donkey:; he is just fearful of what is happening. I need to spend time with him in the car on his errands, to make sure he does not become lost, and his driving is weird anyway. At least if I am there, I will know if an accident happens (:grimacing: like I need another car accident, the last one put me in a coma!!). But, it’s either travel more with him, or worry by the phone for “the call”:ambulance:.

He’ll be home this afternoon…fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:.

Thanks for the update, best of luck! Keeping him close is a good plan.
You’re going to have to forgive my late reply; I just had a wonderful 24 hours of total insomnia.
