Good morning friends! I’m so thrilled to find a platform that isn’t run by any well…ya know. And all of us in one place sharing info beats scattered all over social media any day of the week. I’ve already posted and found some incredibly useful info. I’m interested in tarot and oracle card spreads and I’m teaching myself about them by attempting to do near-nightly spreads and studying the meaning of each card. It’s been crazy how each card and spread has been so relevant to me.
I’m also trying to learn about moon water since I collected almost a gallon of rainwater one night last week. Plan on filtering the debris out and storing it in mason jars.
I am heavily into crystals and use them intuitively in rituals or carry a couple in my pocket that feel relevant to the day. I had a gorgeous blue onyx that was my go-to and of course it fell out somewhere. I absolutely adore the energy they add to anything, even just seeing them sitting in their bowl surrounded by selenite makes me happy.
Let’s see…I became interested because my daughter drew me some sigils to heal my brain and mental health, and pain issues. They were gorgeous but I couldn’t recreate them so I decided to learn how to make my own. All the ones explaining symbolism and how to add it in kinda blow my mind so I use a very simple number matrix and I’m always blown away at how the sigil clearly reflects the path of whatever I’m drawing. For instance, I did a simple one: “HEAL BRAIN,” and the starting point and dips and rises really reflected when it was at its worst and when it began to lessen. I like to draw these types directly on my skin. I also have a sigil at the bottom of my ashtray dedicated to my abusive ex husband along with a self-renewing curse that continues until the paper no longer exists. It’s mostly sealed with black wax so it’ll last for a while.
I’m also really drawn to the moon and water, as a Cancer girl -Happy Birthday me!! My next project will be delving into moon spells. I also want to learn how to work with deities but have NO idea how to do that. I feel drawn to Hecate but maybe because she’s just so popular. I’m very interested in getting into baneful magic eventually. I’d love to hear about your journey to working with a chosen deity/deities.

Merry Meet! Hekate or Hecate would be a great start to work with since she is best for guiding through the unknown & when you are seeking transformation within yourself & your life. Look into The Morrigan as well she would be another good option. She is a Celtic goddess of war, sovereignty, prophecy, fate, death. Lilith is also a great option for she represents independence, shadow integration, feminine power, emotional truth and the refusal to submit to false versions of the self. She is a symbol of unapologetic strength, righteous rage, and self-sovereignty.
Since you are a lover of crystals & stones such as myself be sure to add Black Obsidian, any type of Moonstone you feel drawn too especially Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite, Smoky Quartz, & Black Tourmaline to your collection especially when working with these types of deities.

Welcome to our pack 🐺!! Please join my Tarot Tribute. Look back at the month, I have done an introduction to the cards. I posted some easy spreads this week. I do daily pulls, since you are doing daily already, please add your voice and opinions to the rest of the group.
I am so glad that sigils are working for you!! I have not started with that yet, I cannot even _draw_. I am afraid that my anxiousness at drawing it would distract from the intention I should be putting into it.
Your crystals sound wonderful, I have always loved and collected rocks!!
As for god/desses to work with. I suggest studying what interests you. I prefer, Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Native American god/desses. I looked and studied and _tried out_ different deities until I found the ones that worked for me. I had to return to some of the goddesses during my _trial_ period, but I found the ones who work for me. I tend to see that many people choose what are thought of as the _basic_ god/desses of witchcraft, but the Craft is highly personal. Wicca tends to _prescribe_ deities. Do what feels right for you!!!
You can also have more than one. Example, I will give you mine.
Air–Athena for the Wisdom, Sila (Inuit) for the wind/air, and Nut (Egyptian) for the sky (I use Nut, when thanking how beautiful the sky looks, sunrise, sunset, beautiful cloud formations…)
Fire–This one took me a while, but I have settled on Brigid. For some reason, when I tried to use others (honestly, I just never _liked_ the name Brigid, Brigit, so on, so I tried others, but no, went back to Brigid and everything is working out fine. “How did you know?” you ask. When I was using Brigid, things related to Fire or her worked out. When I changed the name, nothing was going right.
Water–Danu, and Tiamat (Mesopotamiam, water, primordial sea), I ask Tiamat to help me with _control through the chaos_.
Earth–I have several who I have grouped together for supplications, but go to independently depending on what I am focusing on. I use Spider Grandmother (Native American), Keya (Native American (Grandmother Earth) this is represented by a turtle with the world on the back.
Spirit–Psyche (Greek) for many reasons, she _descended and arose_, she had a _transformation_. I use her for my Spirit, Eather, consciousness.

Ahh I got chills when you mentioned Lilith so I think I have my answer!! I do think I’ll start with Hekate as you said and then shift over or begin incorporating Lilith once I’m more comfortable and confident.
I made buying the stones and crystals one of my first missions. I have a lot of those but I’m excited to say I just picked up my first lepidolite, labradorite, and kyanite and I’m so in love with them. Is there a difference between just moonstone and rainbow moonstone? Do you have any more suggestions? Thank you so much!

That absolutely helps. I also feel like this is so very personal and you can only do what works for you, so I’m happy to hear you say that also. I’m with you on the name Brigid lol - instant turnoff 😆. It’s interesting how she became a beacon for you.

I also don’t draw that well, which is why I use just an easy square matrix with numbers standing in for letters. Keep each sigil simple and connect the numbers for your words on your matrix, and you have your sigil, no drawing required!!
My matrix is 6 numbers across with the last row being only 3 numbers. Each number represents the alphabet: 1=A, 2=B etc. draw out your matrix with a fair bit of space between numbers and lines. Prepare your word. Remove all vowels and repeating letters, assign each letter it’s corresponding number, and begin with the first letter, starting there on your matrix. Without lifting your pen, draw your line to the next letter in your word, and so on until it’s done. I make a little mark, a small vertical line, at the start of each of mine so I know where to begin when I go to redraw it, but they’re all pretty easy and all straight lines. I don’t embellish, but you can if you’re called to. When I’ve drawn it on the matrix, I draw it again off to the side of it so I can see what it looks like without the numbers. Hope that helps!

Great choice of crystals you picked up! Each moonstone does differ not only by the materials they contain that make them look different, but the properties of each type of moonstone do indeed differ. White moonstone is great for intuition & new beginnings, Rainbow is great for creativity & spiritual energy, & protection since most rainbow moonstone you will find black tourmaline inclusions, Peach moonstone is great for love & emotional healing, Gray/Black Moonstone is great for protection & grounding.

Don’t let the stories you may have heard about Her worry you, She’s just going to give the
Energy you desire/need from Her. For me, She is Queen and Patron Saint. Nice as can be.

I’ve heard horror stories about the Morrigan, Sekhmet (spelling?), and one of the Spanish goddesses. I appreciate your extra advice. I feel like maybe horror stories come from people who’ve tried to abuse their power

Well that sure was an explosive intro, and you’ve got an explosive response too I see! Explosions all around!
I’m also a Cancer. Something tells me we don’t share the same rising and moon sign though, lol.
Not only is Hecate popular, she also loves new witches. I’ve never worked with her, but we have met. As you can see, you’re in the right place to learn if you want to pursue deity work.
Oh and most of us aren’t Wiccans either.
