This just happened, and I had to share it! My family and I were packing for a long trip, and we grabbed our coats. My favorite coat has always been a simple red fuzzy coat, old and worn, but extremely comfortable. I grabbed it and brought it out, and my mom remarked that it had been my dad’s mother’s coat (for context, my dad’s mom is dead. She died before I was ever born. I’ve never met her, but I’ve heard many stories and I would have loved to meet her if I could have.). My dad was surprised, as he remembered that we’d received it from someone but didn’t remember who. I realized why it always felt like a warm hug. From my dad’s mother, to my mother, to me.
